Layne & Frankie-While writing this note, I am looking out the office window. I can see our peach trees covered with pink blossoms. This is a beautiful time of year here. On the way to church, the hills are covered with green grass and wildflowers. The mountains behind are still covered with snow, so even though spring is here, it may not be where you are. Either way, summer is coming and FAMILY REUNION is not far away.

Family reunion will be at Camp Wilderness near Ponderosa, CA (11 miles past the town of Camp Nelson on Highway 190) in the Sequoia National Forest. It is near the "Trail of 100 Giants". One of these Giant Sequoia trees has a diameter of about 37 feet.

All is well with us. Hawaii was wonderful. It was a great break in the middle of moving. Most of you know what moving is like. Almost 40 years worth of precious possessions is quite hilarious. If it wasn't for all the help from our kids, we would still be filling trailers. Luckily for me, most of the inside boxes were unloaded. Layne is not so lucky. Most of the shop boxes are still full and not labelled.

We plan to be in Utah over General Conference weekend.

Jenna & Kevin-Life is good! It's March 7th today... Yesterday Kevin and I went to the temple with my parents and got to see Ty and Melissa there!!! It was so great to see them!!! :) It's Spencer's b-day today, so we'll be heading to the hospital to eat cake with him! :) The boys are all great! They're dying to start the "next sport!" Hunter turned 12 this month and was ordained a deacon. He'll be gathering fast offerings and passing the sacrament for the first time today! He had the birthday party of his life... He got to invite his whole class plus some to my dad's office for a huge movie party! Afterwards my younger boys said, "I want a party JUST like that!"

Neil & Mike-The good news from our house is that Tena is back home. She has been gone since last April. She has been in a few different places receiving help with her mental disorders. She has made great improvements and we are very excited to have her back. There are still some large hurdles to get over where schooling is concerned so we would appreciate you remembering her in your prayers from time to time. Tom is playing basketball for his school and so far his team has won all 8 of their games. Maybe that height will come in handy after all. Rachel has a friend taking the Missionary discussions in our home and so we are enjoying the extra Spirit that brings. Our pasture looks like a huge mud bog after our recent rain storms and the kids are having lots of fun doing their chores with the mud threatening to come to the top of their knee high boots. Memories.....Neil says "It could be snow" and really freezing! I hope you are all enjoying a little lull in your lives after the holiday madness. Love Aunt Mike

LaMont & Evy-Sorry there isn't a lot of news coming from our side on the family. I look around when I get the prod from Jenna to send news and realize we have no graduations, no deaths to report, not one wedding, and in all it seems, the "spectacular", kind of evads us. We are however, if it is news worthy, and you can be the judge, healthy, well, pending an operation to sew Tennyson's feed tube hole up in his stomach, and a tiny operation on Melisa's daughter Elise's finger which is slightly crooked, then we are well.

The boys are wrestling in Reno, getting ready to try out for baseball while being in mid season basketball, in Manteca.
Evy and I are basking in the light of great kids and of course wicked good grand kids.

Molly & Aaron-We're all doing good and staying busy! Hunter is 14 now and playing basketball for the Jr. High and having lots of fun. He's also getting ready to start his Eagle project here in the next month or so, after it's all written up. He's having fun with young men's too!
Tanner is 12 now and loving being in young mens too! He's playing basketball for a city team (the Spurs) and is doing great.
Jake is 9 1/2 and is also doing good! He's playing basketball also for the city and he's on the Washington Wizards. He loves cubs and is excited that Uncle Chad is his new den leader.
Hailey, 5 1/2, is really great too! She's been out of school and sick all week, but I've loved having her home with me. I know she can't wait to get back to school though. She loves kindergarden and all that is involved with it. She's going to start tennis in March and can't wait for that!
Aaron and I are good too! Life is fun and we love the age that are kids are! It's fun to go see them do whatever they are involved in! It's a blessing to have great kids!

Rachel & Rob-Time marches on, and it is getting faster and faster. The Fransens are doing good. Hannah is growing teeth she almost has 4. Dale is loosing teeth he has two spaces and two loose. Cody is doing great in school. He won the FFA Creed contest and won $100. He competes again next week. Alex joined the wrestling team and really likes it. Boyd's team won 2nd place in the history day program. He competes at the county level in March. Elizabeth is my shadow. She wants to help me with everything unless I want her help then she often says "No, You". Hannah is scooting around but not quite crawling. She loves to do things with Elizabeth and always has smiles for her brothers. Rob and Rachel are just busy doing all the same things they always do. We have gotten used to our new neighbors (my parents) and the kids love it when Grandpa calls for helpers. Well that's all for this month. I hope everyone is having a good 2010 so far.

It has been a few months since we have sent in any news. It seems like time is just flying by. Were able to enjoy a great Christmas vacation at my parents this year. And we still made it home into to spend the New Year with Jeremy and Leslie. Emily started walking at my parents the day after Christmas. She can really get around.
We have been sick here the past few days. The only part I enjoyed was today when we all took naps. I can't complain when I can take a much needed nap.
Mike is doing some winter safety training this weekend he isn't looking forward to it. I think it would be great to fun but isn't that how it always is those that would enjoy it can't.

Sheila & Lyle-We had a fantastic Christmas with the whole family... We spent the night Christmas eve at the office. It was nice with plenty of room to run around and have fun.

Jenna & Kevin-Life is good and keeps trucking on. The 1st semester of school just ended for all the boys! They all did fantastic on their grades!!! Kaden and Gavin are loving basketball. Kaden's team is undefeated... and they just beat the other undefeated team last night! They sure are fun to watch!!! Hunter and Kellan finished wrestling. Chloe has been practicing making snow angels on our kitchen floor. :) Kevin says this should be a record month for the business! :) We've been looking for a home to buy. Our lease ends here in July. We're glad the home prices continue to drop! :)

I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Holiday season. As I prepared my Christmas cards and passed all of your addresses I thought, well I'll just say it in the newsletter. We the Neil Hunters extend all of our love and best wishes. We know in your indivuidual families you will instill in your little and big ones the true Spirit of Christmas and that the Savior's birth will be what is most celebrated. Our thoughts go way back to Christmas's celebrated together and wish we could have a reunion at Christmas time as well. May all of you be together with those you love most at this most blessed time of the year. We will have all of our family together for one glorious day. .. and we will be grateful for that! We love you all!!!!!!!!! Uncle Neil and Aunt Mike

Trevor & Charmayne-It's been pretty busy in our house this past month. We thought things would slow down now that we're done with soccer. However, we decided (Charmayne did and Trevor protested every step of the way) that having the three boys in one room wasn't working out very well anymore. They are just getting too big. They had their bedroom where they slept and changed clothes - wall to wall dressers and beds. They also had turned our family room into their play/homework room. So we gave Race his own room, but he has to share with our vinyl cutter and computer. We're also planning to resurrect the train table and put it up in there, probably after the holidays. Nick and Kinny are getting the family room. So it's taken us weeks to finish the move and their rooms look great. The rest of the house is still holding onto all the "OTHER" stuff we can't seem to let go of. Since our garage is also full we may have to do some soul searching and really decide what is important to hold on to and what is not.
Besides that, Trevor is staying warm at work with his new State provided Car-hart jacket. Too bad they can't stop the furlough days. He just got a new smart phone and is enjoying the modern convenience that comes with it. He's been helping the boys make candy canes for sale out of plywood for yard decorations. They are turning quite the profit. Charmayne is trying to work part time and still manage to keep the house up. She now has a new Chihuahua puppy. He's really fun and potty training is going so well...He's also a little thief. Steals anything you leave on the floor and runs as fast as he can to somewhere else. Race is enjoying his freshman year. At the end of the year, he's going to challenge his Chemistry and try to get AP credit for it. He's also finally found a subject that eludes him - Spanish! Nick's in 6th grade and just received his Arrow of Light, Religious Knot and his 20er patch for Webelos. Now he is officially a boy scout. His cholesterol tests are finally in the normal range, however his doctor would like him to grow a few more inches without gaining anymore weight. Kinny is the head of his 4th grade class in math and wants to challenge the fifth grade math test. He may be skipping that year, and is so excited to take after his brothers. He is now a Bear cub and Charmayne is counting down the years before she can finally get a new calling. After 6 years in Cub Scouts, she's ready for something like Genealogy Library Worker. This month is crazy as we look ahead to the next few weeks. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.

Paij & Brent-Paij will be done with her master's in school counseling on Friday December 11th!!! We are so excited and I(Brent) am really proud of her. She has worked very hard and balanced being a full time student and mother amazingly well. Morgan is lucky to have such a loving mother and I am blessed to have such a capable and dedicated wife. It has been an eventful couple weeks here in the Collins home. I took the second part of my national boards and am grateful to be that much closer to being done with my program. I will graduate optometry school the end of April. It is hard to believe that Paij and I are both nearing the end of our student phase. We are excited for this stage to be over, yet grateful for the privilege and opportunities we have had to dedicate so much time to furthering our education. The Navy contacted us and informed us of the openings we have to select from for where we will be stationed next year. We sent in our list of preferred sites and are anxiously awaiting news of where we will be stationed. Unfortunately we do not expect to hear back from the Navy any time soon. Paij was offered a job for next semester at one of the schools she has interned this past semester. We are both excited that she will be getting paid to do what we have been paying for her to previously have the privilege of doing. The job is only a temporary position as we will be leaving for wherever the Navy sends us next summer. We are grateful the school offered Paij the position and that it will work with the limited time we have left here in Memphis. Morgan seems to learn a new word every day, which is usually only discernible to Paij and I. She is our pride and joy. She is at such a fun stage and we are trying to soak every minute of it up before she hits the dreadful terrible two's. We are looking forward to spending the holidays back in California with our families. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a new year that is full of wonderful memories and opportunities.

Layne & Frankie-Hi,

We have been busy clearing, cleaning, and hopefully de-junking. During November, we had visits from Jeremy, Rebekah, Seth and families. They were a great help as we tackled the garage and sheds. Rebekah braved the loft in the garage where rats have been known to live and terrrorize in the past. We finally have cats that our dogs haven't scared off. Unfortunately, I think the rodents just moved to a nearby shed.

Kara, Benjamin and Matthew - families will be visiting at Christmastime. They, along with the Bakersfield kids, plan to help us with our move to Selma. We have purchased a home near Rachel and Rob. The address is:

Rachel & Rob-Hello Everyone and Merry Christmas. The Fransens are doing good. We have some fun new neighbors moving in this month. Our children go over and help and then are sent back to borrow stuff. Their dogs have worried our other neighbors already too. We've had them over for dinner and they seem like great people. We hear they have lots of family that visits and are looking forward to seeing their family.

We are heading for Texas again for christmas but hope to see some of my brothers and sisters before we go. Alex is in wrestling. Boyd is starting the small GATE program they have here. Cody is doing well in High School. Dale is the best student in his class. His teacher says she wants to clone him. Elizabeth is a great sister to Hannah. They both keep mom busy. I guess that all til the New Year.

We are counting the days down to Christmas!!! It's so much fun celebrating Christmas with little excited people!!! :P Kevin and I just celebrated our 14th anniversary!!! I'm sure I'm the luckiest girl in the world to have a man like him! Kaden turns 13 next week. He keeps reminding me that I will have a teenager now. He's had a bit of a growth spurt and finally passed me up! He's 5'5"!!! I got to go to Arizona with Chloe for a week. Kevin's sister has a cyst in her brain and can't do much, so I got to go help her plan her daughter's 9th birthday party. We decorated her house, and I moved furniture around until I was sore. It was fun, hard work!!! :) It made me count my blessings and be VERY grateful for good health!!!

Neil & Mike-Hello everyone, I think I might be coming back from the land of the Lost! I'm sorry I have been such a slacker. This has been the worst year of my life and I just couldn't bring myself to write anything. It's not all that much brighter but a little. Tena is finally out of Juvenile hall and the mental hospital. I won't go into details but that gives you a clue as to our woes. She is now in a treatment home in Chico. It is not nearly so restrictive and we're hoping she is finally at a place in her mind where she can get some help. She has been away from home for 5 months now. I really have to thank my married kids for mothering me through it! I do have some bright moments! Cypress got baptized on Oct. 12th. She has been waiting for that moment for a very long time. She was very excited!! Haylee, Ryan and her family came and Haylee and the kids stayed for a week after so that made it extra special. Halloween begins to loose its luster when you're too old to go trick or treating. (Rachel, Brandie and Tom) So we went to the community Halloween Carnival to boost their spirits and Brandie ended up winning first prize in the costume contest, coming home with a $25 gift certificate to the local hamburger joint. We're all hoping she shares! (they have really good milkshakes). I want to say a big thank you to Jenna for putting up with all of us losers all this time. You're wonderful!! Then I want to thank all of you who write. I so enjoy hearing about all of your families and what's going on in your life. By doing this sharing, we feel like we still know each other at the family reunions. We're excitedly planning to go to Utah to spend Thanksgiving with Haylee and her family. May Donner Summit be dry! We do have so much to be thankful for and as we begin November I shall be indeed counting my blessings. Love Aunt Mike

Layne & Frankie-Hi,

We have been very busy with our new arrivals. Pompi is our male, black-tri, Australian Shepherd. He has fathered several litters with Rachel's red-tri and Seth's black-tri. Last year we bought a female, red merle, aussie from Benjamin. (He had Missy, a registered red merle). Of course, when we purchased Snowball, Missy's pup, we didn't know that Missy would join our family this summer. Now we have 2 black-tri and 4 blue merle males from Missy & Pompi; and 2 black-tri and 5 blue merles females from Snowball and Pompi. With all the puppies we have had or been involved with over the years, there has always been combinations of male and females in the litters. Needless to say, we were quite surprised to end up with 2 single sex litters. They should be ready to sell a few weeks before Christmas.

We have planned a trip to Hawaii after Christmas to celebrate. If the puppy market is good we may splurge, if not we will have fun anyway. Layne has been working hard with 16 independent study students after school and at lunchtime. I have fluid on my knee and hopefully only a sprained ligament, thanks to the lively dogs. An MRI is being scheduled to make sure the meniscus is not torn. So, I have done my part to deserve this trip, also!

Other than the older age, aches & pains, we are doing great.

Halloween was lots of fun. The boys enjoyed ringing doorbells and getting candy. Ethan would hold up his bucket again and again until they stopped putting candy in it. I think he got 3 times as much candy as Ben got. It was too funny.

Useless alarm dog stays hunkered down under covers as thieves rip off flat screen computer monitors, printer-scanner and more. No suspects in custody. Police investigate and confirm (Barney Fife voice) "What you have here is a point of entry... and some missing stuff. I'd say you were the victim of a burglary..."
Well DUH!
Natalie and Jared came up and spent some time this weekend for Halloween. All came over and shared our traditional "AFV" viewing. Meredith is still in Mexico. Husband and kids preparing to depart December 30 to hang out "south of thee border" themselves for the semester.
Sam straightened out his hair for Halloween. It's a great look for him. Donna is still seeking employment. By the way - our POTUS is a falsehood-bearer. The economy isn't all that great just in case you're asking. Am still awaiting bailout. Maybe next week.

Hillary & Jason-The Rogersons are happy and well and had the cutest little Halloween kiddos ever! I don't know how to attach pictures though so oh well! Jason just worked his LAST graveyard shift and we're hoping for a more routine schedule from the both of us. Hunter almost poked her own eye out with a pencil at school (accident) and Ellie turned 6 this October but says it doesn't feel all that much different from 5. Reese and Max have both had major growth spurts this month making me realize I really don't have any more babies in my house. That went by fast! Hope all is well with you and for those of you locals who may want to see the Madrigal Dinner put on by the Shasta High School music department, public ticket sales are happening this weekend so let me know!

Sarah & Ryan-Happy fall, everyone! We had a great Halloween here in the McMullin house with way too much candy and lots of fun.

We dressed up as a Star Wars family and got lots of oohs and ahs at our cute little Yoda. Douglas couldn't have cared less about the whole thing, but he doesn't mind a little attention. School is slogging along as usual, and we're at that point in the semester where we realize we're going to be accountable for all the information we don't take in during lectures. Not a great feeling! Emma just got back from a quick 4 day trip to visit Meredith in Puebla, Mexico, where they had way too much fun together. The hot humid summer here is finally over and we've moved to the fantastic Houston fall and winter (high of 76 today) that make the miserable summer worth it. Now that Halloween is over the holiday season is here! We're excited to have a house to decorate for Christmas this year. Hope you are all well and recovering from your Halloween sugar overdoses!

Sheila & Lyle- How are you? I can't think of much to write about:( However...I think I enjoyed Halloween more this year than I have for a long time. Something about the crisp air outside, leaves falling, lit pumpkins sitting next to a scare crow on a bench, carving pumpkins with family and friends, painting faces, hot soup on the stove and walking grand kids around the neighborhood. You get the picture. It was nice. The only thing that would have made it nicer would have been to have all of my family a little closer. Trick or Treat.
What else can I say about the Mortimers? Leisha got a little honda civic. Don't get to excited its a 97 but she loves it. She was a nerd for Halloween. Tanner got a new job @ Natures Sunshine, which is an herb shop. He takes orders in Spanish. He wore a terminator costume to work and was one of the five winners. Lyle's dressed up as an escapee in an orange pant suit, his face had acid rain, right Calvin? He only gave me ten minutes to work on him o.k. I was the police officer that arrested him. I know...clever. Thanks to Jenna the costume lady.
We are doing well, but can't believe Christmas is only fifty two days away. Oh my. I bet Mike is all done with her shopping. I better get started.

Jenna & Kevin-We had a great October. Kevin and I went to our first ever "How to Host a Murder" party. Kevin was "Chief Breaking-Wind" and I was "Butch Chastity." The kids enjoyed Halloween ALMOST as much and we did. They trick-or-treated their hearts out.

First term of school was a giant success! ALL my boys brought home straight A's!!! YAY!!! That sure makes parent/teacher conferences enjoyable!!! :)

Kellan turned 6 this month. He is my sweetheart. He lost his two front teeth and now he looks much, much older...darn it! :)

Kalli & Terry-We have closed our Bike and Board shop and that's good and bad. (We still have lots of snowboard equipment pretty cheep if anyone is interested.) Terry got a job with Yuba County as a Real Property Appraiser and loves it. Kalli is substitute teaching all around town and enjoying it. Cypress is getting baptized this Saturday (oct. 10). We're feeling really old. School is back in and the girls are already stepping up and getting ahead of their classes. Tyden is loving preschool and learning a lot. Kasen is climbinb on eveything and not trying to say anything! Time goes by quick! Can't wait for all the Halloween fun.

LaMont & Evy-We here of the LaMont and Evelyn Hunter clan are doing quite well thank you. Don't get me wrong, nothing big or exciting, but we are healthy, wealth--- uh wis--- ,Well. We here of the Hunter clan are healthy, and when you have your health you have just about everything. Sounds like a kop out but it really is true. Our kids are in full swing soccer, with one in football. Since our kids are from ancestral stock of whom it is said,"could out run a sheep", you know they are doing well and having fun. I read the book of Bishop Edward Hunter who was the church Presiding Bishop for 32 years. He was my great great grandfather if I have figured correctly. What a fantastic man. When He joined the church he gave the Prophet Joseph $7,000 and offered him more off of the sale of some Property, but the Prophet said he had given enough. He became very wealthy. He and a friend collected and buried in a common grave the bodies of Joseph and Hyrum. This guy was Brigham's right hand man when they arrived in Utah and was sent back to organize more wagon train, and hand cart companies to get new converts to the SLC Valley. All of the things I have learned about this great guy and his family, made me stop and do some comparing. Would Neil, Layne, Calvin, Greg or Lyle and their spouses be up to anything like that? And I quickly realized that Bishop Hunter's gene pool is alive and doing well.

Justin & Jana-Hi, we hope everyone is doing well. This has been a fun summer for the Reno Hunters. Our ig boys have been playing soccer and doing great. They are gearing up for wrestling this fall. Kaethe is working down the road for a lady who trains and boards horses and I have never seen anyone so eager to get to work! She loves it. She gets to feed, shovel manure(so exciting) and paarticipate in the working and training of the horses. She is in heaven. Tenny has learned some new sounds and has mastered some new words. He has had a long run of being healthy and is making great strides.

We finished our house and moved in early July, so that has been very fun also. Jana is still Primary Pres. and really busy.

Layne & Frankie-Hi,
I was just asking one of my kids if they remembered receiving a newsletter in August but I couldn't remember how to look for the last one sent. I quit printing them or saving them on my computer when I could just scroll through the old ones.

Summer was great but always too short. We finally timed things right and were in Utah and Idaho when it was above 105 degrees here.

Layne is teaching a night class at Reedley College again this semester. He also has about 13 independent study students he meets with during lunch or after school. With all this extra money (ha, ha), we are planning a trip to Hawaii a few days after Christmas. This will be the 49th state Layne has visited.

I keep busy with my 6 young women, genealogy (I have actually learned how to use the new.familysearch program on the computer), garden (a major disadvantage to warm autumns, the garden doesn't die till December or January; sometimes the tomato plants never die), fighting rodents, Harmony (a singing group), Grandchildren, and phonecalls. All you younger moms keep should keep a special journal about what broken bones look like, the symptoms of childhood illness, favorite recipes, ect. so that when your kids call for advice, you will actually be able to help them. I love the calls from my kids but I am afraid I am not much help to them.

We have a place reserved for family reunion but we are still checking out a few other places. Mark your calendars, June 17-19 2010 Father's Day weekend). WOW! We will celebrate our 40th anniversary a few days before reunion.

Rachel & Rob- The Fransen's are doing good. After about four years Rob was released from the nursery. He kind of misses it but now he gets to be a Webelos leader. He is going to be great. Rachel is still a councilor in primary but also the Cub Committee Chairman. She has a lot to learn. The boys are all doing great in school. Cody is learning about all the fun extra curricular activities there are to do in high school. He love seminary and does pretty good getting up at 5:00. Alex has adjusted great to 7th grade. He is playing soccer and will start wrestling soon. Boyd is in 4th grade and loves to learn. He is paying soccer again this year also. Dale is in 2nd grade and his teacher loves him. He is doing soccer for the first time this year. He is the goaly. He is good. So far the other team has only scored one goal while he was goaly. His team does a really good job protecting him too. Elizabeth is two and we call her little mommy. She wants to do everything herself. She makes sure things are done the right way and put in the right place. She love helping with Hannah. She was feeding her the other day and was even telling her to open the tunnel for the train. Hannah is 6 months and smiling at everyone. I guess that is all for now. Hope to hear from all of you.

Kara & Michael-Looks like winter is making an early appearance in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Last year we had a little snow storm just before Halloween. But this year, it snowed almost a whole month earlier. We woke up to snow falling, and it continued to fall all day long. It was an exciting day, but the kids only touched the snow and we pulled them back inside. We still haven't pulled out their winter clothes, and we think that it'll probably melt in the next couple of days.

In any case, it looks like winter's coming sooner than later. (I even saw some Christmas decorations in the stores a couple days ago!) Kara chants "Four Feet...Four Feet" everytime it snows. I think she's trying to get under my skin! She figures if it snows that much then we'll all be able to stay home and enjoy the time together. I think I would still end up going to work...it would just be a lot harder to do.

Well, this was a nice long weekend. We went up and visited with my Mom and Dad on Thursday and Friday. It was good to be there and spend some time with them. It was even better to get away from work for awhile. Tommorrow I will start another long hard push to integrate equipment on a tight deadline to meet the Alltel/Verizon Wireless conversion date deadline. Lots of long hours.

We're now coming out of the eye of the storm with new church assignments and pushing to finish up my MBA. With a little luck and some extra hard work, I should be able to finish up the program before summer. But everything is sure keeping us busy.

The kids, Kara and I are all doing well, and hope that each of you are healthy and happy.

Benjamin & Megan-We moved to Layton, UT late this summer. We were finally getting things put together, but then we went to Megan's mom's house at the end of September and got a bunch of stuff she was getting rid of (beds, bookshelves, books, etc). Now we have a bunch of stuff to put away again. :(

The kids are doing great. Ben and Ethan are too smart for their own good. They get into EVERYTHING. This included finding my meat cleaver and bowing knife and stabbing my couch. Don't worry, the knifes didn't cut them (not sure how) and Megan didn't harm them either. Brynna had her 6 month check up. She is 25 inches and almost 13..5 pounds. Ben is getting into the swing of things with his new school. He is getting his shop and computer lab put together and getting his classes organized. It has been hard for him to teach tool safety when the tools had no electricity ran to them :)Here is our new address for anyone who wants it :

I was wondering where the newsletter went! Hope to hear from all of you :) There has been a lot of changes in the Rogfam house and IT'S ABOUT TIME! After YEARS of dragging out school as long as possible Jason has completed his MBA and just found out he will be graduating with HONORS!!! We are so proud of him for sticking it out and getting it done. For those of you who don't know Jason had applied for CHP about a year ago now and we were disappointed when we heard budget cuts were putting his background check on hold for 8 months because they take about 4 months to complete. They also told us that there were no new academies scheduled so there was no end in sight for how long he might have to wait. We just got word that his background check has started 6 months early and that there are three new acadamies scheduled!! More good news :) As for Hillary, she has just put in her notice at the restaurant she has been serving at for the last 18 months and accepted a drama instructor position at one of our local charter schools Redding School of the Arts. This is right up her alley and is VERY part time so she is still involved with Shasta High School's annual madrigal dinner. The kids have been enjoying school: Hunter is in a 2nd/3rd grade combo which has been an adjustment (she's a 2nd grader), Ellie is really showing a complete 180 from last year. Instead of fighting tooth and nail on everything she's thriving on the routine school has to offer. Reese and Max are little Bosom Buddies at home learning how to work in pairs to cause even more destruction then they could on their own. :) Our love goes out to all of you and prayers as well. We love this family!!!!

Sarah & Ryan-Our fun, full summer is over here in the McMullin house, although the weather could still fool me. We shipped off one sister to Idaho (Alex) took in another from California (Emma) and spent a day with yet another on her way to Mexico (Meredith). We love our little house and the dog loves being able to bark a little more freely than he did in an apartment. Douglas just hit the 6 month mark at the end of September and is so much fun! He's sitting and rolling and giggling and doing his best to figure out crawling. (Pictures and videos on our blog.) Ryan is still working with NOV Grant Prideco and finishing his Bachelor's, which he'll gratefully be done with in May, the same time I finish my JD. We've been students our whole marriage, so it will be weird to both stop cold turkey! We'll be home in Redding for a few days for Christmas and can't wait to see everyone and show off how cute our little boy is. Hope you are all well and happy and enjoyed General Conference as much as we did.

Lyle:Where do I put the news?

We had a fantastic Month in September. Melissa Moore, author of our book Shattered Silence, was on Oprah on September 17th. Filled up the entire show, during premiere week and with Dr. Phil. It doesn’t get any better. Then the author was on Geraldo for about 5 minutes on September 20th. On October 2, people magazine came out with a 4 page spread. Today (Thursday) she is taping for Good Morning America, which will air Monday.
I ran the St. George Marathon on October 3rd. Improved my time by 5 minutes. It was actually an enjoyable run. The most fun long run I’ve ever done. Hard—but fun. I guess that means I’m looking forward to next year when I’m 60. That can’t be true...... Only old guys are 60.
The ward is still coming along. Working on my home teaching. Trying to be what I’m supposed to be at home, at school, at play........
What fun thing should we do next?

Sheila: Fam... It's really feeling like fall in Utah. Once snow is on the mountains it stays cooler. I'm loving the sweatshirt weather. We loved conference and have all vowed to drop a "warm fuzzy" in our family jar, as Jenna reinforced it at an FHE.

Wendi and the boys were here. It's always nice to see them!

Lyle and I will be going to the Governer's scholarship ball at UVU on Friday (we will be sitting at the Governor's table!) Chefs from all over Utah come and after trying incredible hors 'd oeuvres we get an incredible 5-course meal, good entertainment, and dancing afterward. Sounds to me like a new dress is in order. :)

Tanner is doing much better after his long-boarding accident. Still no smelling ability and less hearing out of one ear. He put in his 2 week notice at Los Hermanos and landed a new job at Nature's Sunshine (Herbal line.) He will be taking orders in English and Spanish.

Leisha is enjoying high school and beauty school. She has a "Jungle Fever" runway competition this Saturday. She will be dressing Moana up as a crocodile, with a long ponytail that drags on the ground as her tail.

We enjoyed seeing Calvin and Donna in August.

Kaden, Hunter, Gavin and Kellan are all enjoying school and doing well! Only 1 at home!!! Chloe and I are enjoying the 1/2 day alone together!!! Kaden is enjoying playing the bass clarinet in the school band. He started a frisbee club. Hunter and Kellan are signed up for wrestling. Hunter paid for most of it with his own money. He is a hard worker and is happiest when he's helping and working. Gavin is my helper. He's a sweetheart. He loves to help and take care of Chloe. He's waiting to play soccer or basketball this year. ... and now.... the most exciting and important news in the Brooke home.... Chloe is potty trained!!!! wooo hoooo! No diapers!!!

Bryce & Jessica-Will life ever slow down? Jessica has a busy schedule. She’s to work by 7am, then comes home from school at 9pm. She loves being active and doing things, but it gets tiring at times. Bryce misses seeing his wife, and having her wonderful cooking. :) Bryce is working at Cedar Fort, working on his company Kahuga, selling through Amazon, and looking for additional work in the evenings to help with some bills.

Paij & Brent-Time is flying for us here is Mississippi. Brent is almost finished with his rotation at the VA and will start another rotation in a private practice the first of September. I just finished my final graduate course and will graduate in December after my internship in the fall. Morgan is growing and fun as ever. We love watching her do the sign language we teach her and seeing the fun ways her little mind works. In July, we got to go to California for a week and spend some needed time with our families. We are so blessed and can't be more grateful!

LaMont & Evy-I can't believe it's time to let July slip away. If August is here, that means seminary will be starting in ten days. That doesn't mean too much to a Utahan who has release time seminary, but here in Calif. it is a major commitment for kids and teachers alike. Speaking of which, Jamyn is teaching the Sophamore Class this year. We welcome her to the teaching staff where from now on her day will start at 5:00 in the A of M.

and an hour later she will experience the happy attitude of 20 sophamores. We are all excited for this time of year when seminary gets underway. Emma and Maddie are in my Freshman Class. Super fun to see them each morning. We also have two kids starting Kindergarten this year. That would be Ashlan in Las Vegas, and Hailey here in Manteca.

Evy and I are having our 41st anniversary in Feb. We still owe each other a trip to Carmel from last year. Maybe a big catch up weekend is coming??

Layne & Frankie-We just got in this morning. We visited family in Utah and Idaho. We even had a morning of yard sales with the Mortimer's.
When we returned from girl's camp on the 18th, the Central Valley heat was upon us so that is when we decided to leave the state. It gets just about as hot in Utah but it does cool down a little more at night.

It has been a great summer. I think Layne's fishing trip to Mexico was the highlight for him but I'm not sure. He does enjoy his kids and grandkids. We didn't make it to Alaska as planned but there is always next year. Layne is looking forward to school starting so he can get some rest.

Kara & Michael-We're still doing pretty good up here in Idaho. The weather finally decided to warm up, and our garden has really shot up. We have three cute little cocker spaniel puppys, and we've been busy putting up a shed in our backyard.

My Dad and Mom came up the past couple of days and helped get most of it in place...now we have only to place the roof. It is so nice to see family, and we wish that work would allow us to live closer. But to this point, we are grateful that Mike is still gainfully employed. (We are a little apprehensive about the future, but then who isn't these days?)

Daniel and Joseph have been going to summer school for the past couple of weeks, and regular school starts up pretty soon. This year, four of our six children will be going to school (Daniel, Joseph, McKayla, and Karalynn). Adam and Emily will get to spend some one-on-one time with me at home. Life tends to keep us busy, but it is good. Our prayers and love go out to each of you and we hope that you'll let us know if there is anything we can do for any of you.

Sheila & Lyle-Hi family, Lyle Leisha and I went to Trek this month. It was awesome:-) It was hot and hard, but worth all the effort. BYU filmed it, to be shown at a later date. We were in Wyoming at Martin's Cove, Sweetwater, Devils Gate, and walked on very sacred, hallowed ground. I could feel it, and love our blessed honored pioneers. I'm so glad it was them and not me.
We also attended the Mortimer reunion. Grandma Mortimer is ninety-four years old and is showing the signs of aging. She has three hundred and eight progeny. That includes people who have married into the family. Wow!
I can't believe Summer is about over. We tried to squeez in all the fun we could, but all good things must come to an end.
Today is Lyle and my anniversary, thirty four years. Who would have guessed. We went to dinner at the Tree Room, up at Sundance Ski Resort, and went to the "Fantastics" at their outdoor Summer theater. Doyle and Kitty went also. (Lyles brother and sister in law) We saw Robert Redford, but he was just in a picture hanging on a wall. Ha Ha...It was fun!
Leisha is signed up for high school and beauty school beginning on the seventeenth of August. Tradition you know. She is planning on going to Utah State after graduation.
It was nice to see Rebecca and Seth the other day. Thanks for the almonds!!! I love them. Also Layne and Frankie came by. We hung out and went to a few garage sales on Saturday. Their great people!

Jenna & Kevin-Life is good in Springville! We are enjoying the beautiful summer weather! I watched the news the other day and they said, "no more days over 100 degrees this year!" What a change from AZ!!! Kevin and Kaden just got back from a long backpacking scout campout. They had a lot of fun! School starts soon! The boys are so excited. Hunter even said, "I can't believe I'm saying this, but I MISS homework!" Don't worry Hunter...it's coming! :) Kaden is going into 7th grade...Jr. High!!! He's excited to get to start Algebra 1 with the 8th and 9th graders! Kellan is starting kindergarten.... sniff, sniff. I will miss him like crazy, but I'm excited for the 1 on 1 time I'll get to spend with Chloe! We have officially moved to Birmingham Alabama. We miss everyone in Utah, but we are happy we were able to spend the last year with them there. Aaron is in his second year of his residency here at the University of Alabama. He is loving the hours.

Anthony will be 4 in October. He loves to swim and play with his friends. Haden will be 2 in October. He is the sweetest boy. There is nothing better then being a mother!

We just bought our first house. We get to move in on August 7. We are so excited.

Trevor & Charmayne-Well, June was pretty busy. Race graduated 8th grade, is now a Star scout and well on his way to get his Eagle before 15yrs, and is now enjoying babysitting his brothers for the rest of the summer. Nick has decided not to skip another year of math so he can do soccer, basketball and track next year. Kinny is very glad to be out of the little yard and in 4th grade now. He did very well in school this year and is right on track for being at the head of his class. We're trying really hard not to put any pressure on him but it seems he is doing it himself. This summer the boys are in a physical training program with Terry. Hopefully it will help them to get into better shape. Trev and I would love to do it but we both have to work and don't have the time. Are new little chicks came at the end of May. Ten of them died so they sent replacements and then fillers. So know we have almost 20 chicks. Not sure what we're gonna do. They are growing up so fast. Can't believe it's already July!

Kalli & Terry-The reunion was great! Thanks to everyone involved!! We had a great time and really enjoyed catching up. I'm very thankful to all those who continue to come, my children made great new friends of your children and we are all blessed by that. The weather is hot but we have a/c. We are still on the job hunt if anyone hears of anything. We are blessed daily in spite of having no money. We are happy and healthy and we can't complain.

Matthew and Karali flew in last Saturday morning for the HTG reunion. We doubled the size of the branch. 4 primary classes were added. Brynna was blessed and Kaitlynn was baptised. It was a great Father's Day present for Layne. Other than a sick Layne and baby Emily, my cell phone ending up at the bottom of Lake Kaweah Monday was the only complaint I had. McKayla wasn't too happy about ending up in the lake but she does have a nice new cast on her arm.

I guess we do have another complaint. The reunion was too short. We didn't get a chance to really talk with everybody. We have tentatively reserved a spot for next year's family reunion. Kara will check out the spot in Oakley, Idaho to see if we want to go there. If not next year, maybe the following year.

Layne is heading to Mexico Friday for a weeklong fishing trip. After I finish with girl's camp preparations, I think I am going shopping.

Rachel & Rob-Reunion was great. Sometimes it seems hard to get everything ready and I know it was a lot of work for the planners but it is worth it. I am so glad we can count on it every year. Our family is doing good. Summer already seems to be flying by. We head to Texas to visit Robs family the first of July. At the end of July Cody is hiking Mount Whitney. He is excited and has been training for it. He successfully hiked Half Dome. He goes running and does stairs at the football stadium to help get ready. Rob is working on landscaping and putting in cement around the house. I am just busy being mom. well that's all for this month.

How nice it was to see all of you at the Hunter Reunion. Time was short, but there is still comfort and strength just being near you and seeing how your beautiful families have grown. Thanks for your efforts everyone especially LaMont and Evy's family.

After reunion we drove to Half Moon Bay with Neil, Mike, Brandy and Tom. It was a little cold and windy, but we loved it, especially Leisha. We took a nice long walk along the shore. I shared a few memories of my childhood at Half Moon Bay. Some of you may remember driving there on a Monday evening after school and work. We would roast corn and potatoes on hot coals, throw the Frisbee around and watch the sun set. The food never tasted so good.

Lyle, Leisha and I are getting ready for trek. Lyle and I are Ma's and Pa's with eleven kids to help push and pull the handcart. We will walk twenty-five miles in three days. Thanks Melissa for the pioneer clothes. They are perfect. The preparation has been amazing. We have four hundred people going from our stake. There is a fifty voice choir that meets Sunday evenings. We have been practicing square dancing. Leisha has been serving on the youth committee and will be playing a violin duet, and we have been walking. We're up to eight miles on Saturdays. Hope we make it.

Thank you everyone for all you do. Jenna thanks for keeping the Hunter Herald going. I love reading about everyone. La Mont and Evy, thanks again for all your efforts to keep things going. You all mean so much to me, and help to make up who I am.

Jenna & Kevin-Hello Family! We are really enjoying our summer vacation! We were so sad to miss the reunion! Kevin, Kaden and I went to the Jr. High to meet Kaden's band teacher today. Kaden will be playing the bass clarinet! He's totally excited for the challenge. We're loving all the rain and beautiful hiking weather. We were so sad to see Wendi and Aaron and the boys leave for Alabama! We will miss them!!! Hope everyone is happy and healthy!

Adam & Moana-We look a trip down to Hawaiibefore the twins turned 2, while they still fly for free!

It was a blast, of course. Adam got to go to Maui for the first time and loved it. We went snorkeling at a crater in the middle of the ocean, took the boys to the Zoo, ate lots of good Hawaiian food, and went swimming as much as we could. It was a perfect trip. Then a few weeks later the twins turned 2! We had a Dr. Suess "Thing 1 Thing 2 party" for them.
It was a really cute!!! Birthday's are what Mom's look forward to all year. Jenna made the Birthday cakes, which you can see in the pictures, look amazing! Thanks Jenna! We had a fun time hanging out with family and playing with all the cousins. We wish you all a Happy Summer! Love you...A.M.K.C.

LaMont & Evy-Hey gang, we hope everyone is planning a visit at the Hunter Family Reunion in Manteca this year. It should be fun. It could be a little pricey although we have tried to hold that down. It seems like it is going to be our lot to have to go to other camp sites than the girl's camp spots because of the early starts at girl's camp because of the numbers of stakes using the camps. We may have to start a couple of weeks earlier if we want those facilities. They certainly are cheaper. Well, anyway for this year we are where we are and it should be a good experience for all. Please beware of the h2o in your preperations. A river runs through it, not a lake.

Layne & Frankie-For all of you who looked forward to the calls from Layne lamenting the fact that he could not go to work for weeks, he now gets it from his kids. Of course, it really has nothing to do with working because he works harder all summer than during the school year. He usually doesn't even have time for my honey-do list.

Rachel & Rob-Hello everyone. Things are going great here in Selma. Hannah Lynn Fransen was born on March 28. She weighed 8 lbs 13 oz. She was delivered by C-section because she was breech. She is doing great. She is pretty calm. Cody is graduating from 8th grade. He did very well in all his work and received the principal's medallion. About 30 kids out of 500 received this so we are proud of him. Alex finished 6th grade with perfect attendance all year. That even means no tardies or gone part of the day. I am pretty amazed. He is worried he will be sick all summer since he didn't get sick during the year. Boyd finished 3rd grade and received the Pricipal's award. Dale finished 1st grade and is the first one of my boys to join the 400 club (a math award). Elizabeth is learning so much. She copies me and tries to help with everything I do. I found her smearing diaper rash cream all over her cloth doll. We have to keep a close eye on her. Rob is still in nursery and I am in the primary presidency. Well that's our update. We hope to see you all at reunion.

Kara & Michael-We are enjoying our spring like weather here. The garden is mostly planted and the weeds are really growing. I hope to grow more plants then weeds this summer the problem is weeds don't freeze but my garden plants have already once this spring. Maybe the true trick to planting at the right time is watching when the weed start to come up. Then you know you are safe.

Tonight for family home evening we went to the Shoshone falls had a picnic and explored a little as a family. Earlier this year there was a lot of water going over the falls and it was truely magnificant. I really enjoy taking a few moments to reflect on the beauty the Lord has blessed us with.

My kids and I are really looking forward to reunion. Thank you for all the planning and effort that goes into having reunion. I know it is a lot of time and energy. We really appreciate all of it.

We were able to see Neil and Mike's family a few weeks ago we were so glad to be able to spend a little time with them. If anyone is ever passing through or by Twin you are always welcome to stay at the Hunter (Nichols) Hotel.

Sarah & Ryan-We had a great May! Ryan and I brought baby Douglas out to California for his baby blessing on the 31st, and it's been nothing but fun and family for the whole trip. Douglas has been a trooper with all the traveling, and more than one relative has asked if they can keep him forever. I can't blame them, he's a real charmer! (We have a few pictures of him in his blessing outfit up on our blog.) School is out for the summer, and we're looking forward to signing the closing papers on our house next week and beginning the long process of moving/decorating/etc. If anyone wants to slap a few coats of paint on the walls, feel free to stop by Houston anytime. We won't be making the trip back for reunion, and we're sad that we have to miss seeing you all. Enjoy your summer, everyone!

Jenna & Kevin-What to say... Well, life is good here. Seems like we're just trucking along without any major happenings. (Which is a good thing!!!) We're really enjoying our little area in Springville. The 5k fun run is this weekend. We've all been working hard in hopes of not embarrassing ourselves! :) Kaden (12) has finally passed me up in height. He got straight A's and high honors and is more than excited for Jr. High!!! Hunter (11) also got a personal best in school! All a's and one b! I'm so proud of all of his hard work! At one point he had 23 missing assignments and made them all up in a little over a week! Good job Hunt! Gavin (8) also got straight a's! I'm so impressed with all of them. They are very self-motivated, and work VERY hard. Kellan (5) can't wait for kindergarten to start! He DOES remind me that he will think of me all day when he is gone! He really knows how to sweet-talk his mom! Chloe (21 mo.) is talking up a storm! It amazes me how much she understands! Time flies faster with her than with my others. I'm LOVING summer! We named our days of the week again! I love it! It really makes summers much more enjoyable for us! Monday is Family Day, Tue-Hiking day, Wed-water day, Thurs-learning day, Fri-friend day, and Sat-exercise day.

Paij & Brent-April has been full of school for us. Brent recently took his National Board exams and I took my comprehensive exams and the Praxis II. I haven't got my Praxis scores back yet but we just found out that we both passed our big exams. We're relieved and grateful to have those over with. Brent starts his first externship in the VA hospital next week and I pretty much have the summer off, which I'm really looking forward to. Other than that, we had a great Easter, Morgan is doing great, and we couldn't be happier. We're only in Memphis for one more year so if anyone wants to come visit, start making your plans; we'd love to have you.

Kara & Michael-Our exciting news for this month is that both Adam (4) and Karalynn (5) have learned to ride their bikes with out training wheels. One of Adam's training wheels had broken and he asked me to take them off and next thing I know he is riding his bike down the street. Karalynn didn't want to be shown up by her younger brother so she convinced Joseph to take off her wheels. By Saturday morning they were both riding. We gave Mike a bike for his birthday at the end of March so now we can go on some family bike rides. We sure have a lot of fun.
We are looking forward to this summer and a trip to reunion. It will be nice to see those of you that can make it. We always enjoy the time we are able to spend with family.

Hillary & Jason-Sorry we haven't joined in the herald the last few months. Good news is that Hillary was able to quit one of her 3 jobs this last week and another one is coming to an end in the next two weeks :) Jason is busy finishing his Masters and applying for the CHP. He has made it through the first 3 rounds and just has to pass the background check. Our kids are getting bigger and bigger. Hunter is missing teeth all over, Ellie is really maturing socially, Reese is our little entertainer and Max is busy being all boy and making us all melt by repeating ANYTHING you say. We're enjoying all the crazy weather here- one day 90plus degrees the next cold and rainy. We're missing the family reunion and are very sad about it. So keep us posted in the herald!

We are so excited about the Hunter Reunion. It will be so nice to see you all. Everyone is fine here. Tanner moved the other day, in with some friends. Leisha is running for Art City Royalty, so we're having fun with talent, clothes etc. Jenna and Bryce are in Arizona this week. Jenna has a baby blessing and Bryce and Jessie have a funeral. Lyle is trying to keep CFI afloat with the economy etc. Between work and church, we don't see each other much. The twins will be two on the 16th of June. We will have to have some birthday cake or something at the reunion. Adam and Moana are the cutest parents ever. Spencer and Shanille are working with wrestling. Quenton is doing really well. We had FHE at their house the other night. We each held a homing pigeon, and on the count of three we threw them up in the air and watched them fly their way back to Spencer's back yard. The kids also had a blast riding a miniature pony around the yard, then we roasted hotdogs and marshmallows.
We're all signing up for the Springville 5K the first Saturday in June. It's a family tradition. You don't have to run the whole way, just doing it together is a blast. The drawing for prizes afterward gets better and better every year!
Wendi and Aaron gave us their weight machine. It's home is downstairs with the treadmill. Its awesome! Now their trying to teach us what to do with it. You should have seen that Hunter competitiveness come out in Bryce and Adam when they were seeing who could do the most curls. I don't dare say who won. Wendi and Aaron will be moving to Alabama to finish up Aaron's medical school this Summer. We will miss them so much. It has been nice having them in south Salt Lake.
I hope we can all come to the reunion, but I know at least some of us will be there. We are looking forward to seeing you.

Neil & Mike-We have spent so much time blowing out candles, eating birthday cake and opening presents that we barely got anything else done in March!!!! Neil's was the 1st, Haylee the 4th, Brandie the 10th, Race the 20, and Kalli the 21st. Now that everyone is older and wiser we'll expect greater things...? The rest of our time was spent taking Rachel to 400 practices for "Cinderella" and then spending a few nights at the performances. We've had a few other things going on too but they are not nearly as fun to talk about. We are staying busy here in Idaho. Spring is a difficult time of year. We get our hopes up that it is going to get warm enough to plant the garden and then a storm comes through and it cools off again. I have a few plants started and I hope I am able to keep them alive long enough to plant them out side. If not I will buy the starts from the store and plant them in May or June.
Emily is well loved by everyone. I have been told that it is easier the more kids you have because the older ones help with the babies. It is true that the older kids help with the babies but it is also difficult to let Emily have time to herself. She is held a lot. I think that most of the fighting in my house is over who's turn it is to hold Emily.
Adam had a birthday this month he is 4 years old now. Mike also had his birthday and is....We gave Mike a bike for his birthday. No not a motor cycle a bike you have to pedal and went for our first ever family bike ride. It was so fun. When we got back home the kids wanted to go again. I am sure there were smiles from the houses we passed it isn't every day that you see a train of 7 bikes and a bike trailer driving down your road.
We were so excited to get the family reunion news and are looking forward to seeing those that can make it. We really appreciate all the hard work it is to get so many people together. I am sure grandma and grandpa would be so happy to see how large our reunion have gotten and yet we still try every year to make them happen. Thank you for all that you do. It really means a lot to our family.

Sarah & Ryan-Our March news is that we had a baby! Douglas Ray McMullin, born March 28th at a very healthy 9 pounds .5 oz. He's stinking cute and making all the rest of the family wish even harder that we didn't live all the way out in the Lone Star State. Meredith came out to visit earlier this month and got to experience Houston and the comedy of me ambling around 9 months pregnant. Hillary came out the next week and managed to convince Douglas to arrive exactly on his due date so she could be there to see it. Now my mom is here helping us get the extra sleep we are sorely lacking this week! He's cute, but a lot of work. We've posted some cute pictures of him on our blog, so feel free to visit. Jenna & Kevin-This newsletter makes me realize how quickly the months fly by!!! Our family is doing great! The whole Mortimer family gets together for Family Home Evenings and it was at our house last night! What a cool thing to live so closely to all of my family! I love my siblings so much!!! The kids are all great! Chloe is talking more and more. Her last sentence (while watching cinnamon rolls bake) was, "see cookies, mama." Man, I love her!!! The boys are all fantastic! They ALL brought home fantastic grades from school! I'm a proud mama. :) Kevin's work is going well. He had a convention and made some good contacts. He works so hard for his family!!! I'm a lucky girl! :)

Adam & Moana-Now that spring is here we've been doing some spring cleaning and are getting ready for our annual garage sale. It's amazing how much toys and clothes can come from 2 little guys! Yesterday we celebrated the Festival of Colors at the Hare Krishna Temple here in Utah. It was a blast! All at the same time 10,000 people throw colored chalk into the sky and at each other, making a huge atomic chalk cloud. This symbolizes that even though we are all different with all the colors on us we all look the same and are one. It was a very neat experience we got to enjoy from India's culture. We love you all! Paij & Brent-Things are good here is Mississippi. We just got snow for the second time this year; 5 whole inches so they had to cancel church. Who would've thought they'd cancel church for snow in Mississippi. We've been busy with school, church and life. Brent has his national boards coming up in two weeks and has been studying like crazy. It's 15 hours of tests in 2 days. Yikes! Things are going well at my internship in the middle school. Some days I really feel like I'm making a difference as a counselor and some days I wonder what one earth I'm doing. Overall, it's a great experience for me.

Morgan just turned 9 months old and is cute as ever. We love playing with her and seeing more and more of her personality. Here we are in our Valentine outfits.

We are looking ahead to family reunion 2009. We still have not found a place to hold reunion. If you know of a good place and would like to suggest it, give Uncle Mont a call.

It will, of course, be on Father's Day weekend. Please plan to attend. It will be great, as usual, to have everyone there. We will be sending out more info. as the time draws nearer.

Evy and I are having fun teaching seminary this year. New Testament is a blast! We each have about 20 kids in our class. I have the Freshmen and Evy the Junior agers in our end of the Stake.

Next year is the Book of Mormon and we will have a couple of our grand kids starting as Freshmen. Emma and Maddie, Should be fun.

Jenna & Kevin-Hi Family! We are getting settled here in Springville and getting to know some neighbors! Kevin and I were called to be the CTR5 primary teachers! We love it! We're still running 3 days a week. Dad and I are training for a 1/2 Marathon and Kevin, mom, Tanner, and Leisha are training for a 10k! It's a lot of fun! Dad is up to 7 miles and I'm up to 6! I think he'll have to be 90 years old before I can keep up with him! :) We had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Kevin made me a fancy dinner of lobster tail and salmon. Then we watched a movie with the kids! Kaden took a math placement test and apparently did really well! We don't know his score, but the principal took him out of class and asked him how he got so smart. I asked Kaden if that made him feel good, and he said, "mmmhmmm... yeah. " (really sheepishly and cute! The same way he answers when I ask him if he likes a girl! :) ) Life is good. The business keeps pluggin' along. We love our family!!!

Neil & Mike-We had 2 family birthdays in January, one we will forget lest it should cause more gray hair and wrinkles and the other...Rachel turned 16! She celebrated by going to the Sacramento Temple and being baptized for the dead. Brandie is happily working at Roundtable pizza through the ROP program at school. On a really good day they give her a slice of pizza. Tena is now doing independent study and thriving. She is also the new mother of a speckled holstein. When I hear him bawling at 5:30 am I'm glad it's for her and not me. Tom is playing basketball 24/7. Last week he had a game Tues through Friday after school and 3 games on Sat. That may keep him out of trouble for awhile. Life is good with us, hope it's good with you. Love Aunt Mike.

Kalli & Terry-Well nothing too exciting but we'll share a little. Kasen cut his first tooth last week and has gained 2 lbs 11 oz since Christmas. Tayla learned to write to 100 this week and had her 100th day of school. Cypress is reading at a 4.4 level in second grade. Tyden started pre-school two days a week and is loving all the songs and new friends. Terry is off to work again Kansas this time for a month or so. Which leaves me running the shop and the house and TaVaci (which has 17 new students for a total of 40). Layne & Frankie-I went to Provo in January and met Bobbi Gene Hunter (Jeremy and Leslie).
Next week I am going to Twin Falls to meet Emily Ann Nichols. (Kara and Mike)
We are looking forward to meeting the other 3 that are coming this year.
Layne is teaching at the college 4 nights a week for 9 weeks then only 2 nights for the rest of the semester. I think he hardly notices that I am gone.

Brandon & Laura-Brandon Hunter's family is doing well and happy. Brandon still works at L-3 Communications near the SLC Airport. He carpools with Caleb each day, who has worked there since May of last year.

The 3 older kids are doing well in school. Brooke (3) is enjoying her role as the boss of everyone else. Laura is expecting in July. We are really hoping (and praying) it works out this time.

Life is good. Nothing to complain about.

Emily Anne Nichols was born February 4, 2009 at 10:38pm. She weighed 6 lbs. 13 ozs, and measured 20 & 1/4 inches long. Labor went a little longer than anticipated (about 28 hours) but both Kara and Emily are healthy. I've attached a photo of Emily and I'll let Kara fill in any additional information that might be lacking. We're still going to be in the hospital for a couple of days, but Frankie has our contact information if anyone wants to get in touch with us. Give our love to all!

Hillary & Jason-The Rogersons have moved from Redding to Shasta Lake City which is just outside of Redding and a whole lot less expensive! We're adjusting from house to apartment living but the savings makes us forget about noisy neighbors and a longer drive to work. Max FINALLY started walking this month at 13 months and is a talker and a singer. Reese cut her own hair so we're dealing with a 2 1/2 year old with a mullet and Hunter and Ellie are both doing well in school. Hope all is well with the family and congrats on your move Brooke family! Thanks for keeping this up!

Sarah & Ryan-Hi, family! Hope you are all enjoying this new year as much as we are. I was thinking today as we walked to get the mail in our t-shirts that living in a place with mild winters is great!! I know all you Utahns will say it isn't winter without snow, but I don't care. As long as Christmas still comes, 70 degrees in early February is fine by us.

Life is a little hectic right now. We've moving out of the ghetto and into an apartment a little more out of town and in a much safer neighborhood, which we're really excited about. The not-so-fun part is trying to get anything accomplished at 8 months pregnant! I swear, it's "Pack a box, take a nap. Pack a box, take a nap." Ryan is almost done with his degree in Spanish and is taking lots of classes this semester to get through the final push. He's working full-time and in school full-time, and for the month of February I have a "special session" course (on top of my regular classes) that only meets on the days Ryan doesn't have school. So we're basically strangers until March. :-)

Other than that, we're just trying to get ready for the baby, slowing amassing piles of stuff. Speaking of, congratulations to Beau and Shannon on their beautiful baby girl!!

Tanner's home! He's doing great. He looks good, and "speaksa the spanisha" very well. His home coming is on February 15th, 1:00pm. We would love all or any of you to come. Peru was awesome! Now I know what "a trip of a lifetime" means. We couldn't have done it without Tanner and Adam to interperit. We are trying to get back into the swing of things. Jenna & Kevin-Hello family! Yup, we're all moved in and thrilled to have some extra space! We found the perfect home to rent while Kevin continues to get his business going! Kaden passed the sacrament for the first time this month. Hunter has a new best friend (the little girl next door.) Gavin is working hard in school and has a huge report today on Peru. Kellan is keeping me busy and trying not to be too bored while his brothers are at school. Chloe is all smiles, all the time. She's talking more and more and loves to communicate with sign language. Kevin, Kaden, Hunter and I have been running at the high school 3 days a week. We meet mom and dad and Tanner, Bryce and Leisha there. I love it! I went to enrichment for the first time in our new ward yesterday. It's hard to start over when I loved our last ward in AZ so much, but change is good... right??? Well, we can't wait to see some of you at Tanner's homecoming.

We had a wonderful month this January! Kenneth and Chandler stayed up all the way until 12:00 New Years night! We started the year off right taking a great family trip to Peru. We picked up Tanner from his mission then toured the country for a week. We fell in love with Peru. There's so much culture and history there. The people were so hospitable and we were all well taken care of. Tanner was very lucky to live there for 2 years. Here's some pictures from our trip. We hope to go back again someday!

Neil & Mike-Merry Merry Christmas to all of our wonderful family!!! I am in such a jovial mood!!!!! Great Great news........as you know we have been dealing with the Jar/Iraq issue for a month and a half now. Monday Jarom is notified that he is going to Iraq and he needs to get all of his belongings into storage, make out a will and be ready to leave Sunday (12-14-08). They said he would get further orders Weds. He makes out his will does the Pwer of attorney thing and everything they ask to get ready. Hears nothing on Weds. Friday, after work they call him on his cell phone and say: "the navy has decided they don't need anyone from your ship", you may begin your Holiday leave!!!!!!!!! MIRACLE! it was a miracle. I am here to testify that faith, fasting, and prayer bring miracles. We are so grateful the Lord saw fit to grant us one. So Jarom comes Tuesday, Paij and her family, Thurs, and Haylee and her family Sat. I am so grateful that my children still think"there' no place like home for the holidays! So we've decked the halls, made everything chocolate we can think of , and will start wrapping presents soon.... I hope. It's even raining today so maybe our snowboarders will be able to hit the slopes. I so appreciate my dear son-in-laws and daughter-in-law who support all of our silly traditions..like making all the boys/men sing Elvis's" I'LL have a blue Christmas!!! (it's Ryan favorite part!) Aren't we all so blessed to have these choice and wonderful families that give us the sweetest and most lovable grandchildren. I know you all will be blessed with great joy and peace this season because you love what Christmas represents and you bring the Christ Spirit into your homes by the lives that you lead. Rachel & Rob-Hello everyone, It has been so long since I wrote but we are all doing great here in California. Rob is working hard to finish our house so we can move in on December 20th. A little crazy with christmas but we have renters who are anxious to move into our mobil home. The boys are all doing supper in school. They are pretty much motivated to do their best. Cody is in 8th grade. He loves making thinks out of wood. He learns much from his grandpa. In January He should get his life rank in scouting and he is anxious to work on his eagle. I am so thankful for great scout leaders Alex is in 6th grade. Alex and Boyd both did soccer this year. They were both on great teams. I am glad it is over but next year Dale wants to play too. Boyd is in 3rd grade. He loves school and cub scouts. He also spends alot of time making thinsgs out of paper, tape, cardboard boxes, pretty much anything I'll let him use. Dale is in 1st grade. He loves to do puzzles, play on the computer and play with his oleder brothers. Elizabeth is 18 months old. She is officially in nursery. Rob is her teacher so it is and easy transition. She is busy learning and gorwing. It is fun to play dolls with her. Girls are alot of fun. It is a good thing because in April we will have another little girl. I was so excited to find out that Elizabeth will have a sister to grow up with. Well I guess that is all for our update. I hope everyone has a great Christmas. Love, the Fransen's

Kara & Michael-Hello Family, We had a white christmas this year. It is beautiful but when I think of the song "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" I dream more of a foggy or green one. I guess it is just what you grow up with that makes your dreams. We were going to go to Mikes' parents for the day but the snow storm kept us home. We did enjoy the quiet family time. Mike, Daniel and Joseph had a long day of Risk and the rest of the kids played with some of there new toys. In the early evening we went over to the church with a few friends and played with the Basketballs and had a long game of Volleyball. It felt good to burn off a bit of the Christmas snacks. We brought a few of those friends home with us and played Twisted Phase 10. I think that is going to be on my list for next year. We had a lot of fun. We missed having family around but if the weather is good enough we my have visitors for the New Year. We will just have to wait and see. Our ward party this year was a night in Bethleham. Mike was asked to be one of the wise men, and Joseph were Shepherds. We ate our dinners on the floor in the gym. I think the evening turned our very nice. Each of us were able to dress up in something. I hope our kids remember this activity as we make Christmas memories. We think of family often and hope each of you are doing well. It is so fun to read the updates in the Hunter Herald.

Meredith & Bill-Hello to our beloved family and friends! 2008 is quickly drawing to a close! We wanted to stop the momentum of our lives to acknowledge those who mean the most to us! We think of each one of you and know our lives are better because you are part of it. We know that miles and schedules keep us apart, but you are always close in our hearts. This year has been another eventful year for the Sutherlands, briefly,
First, we must acknowledge the service provided by Bill’s parents (Bill and Yvonne) for the missionary work in Cle Elum, Washington at the Ensign Ranch. I know that our lives were blessed because they were on the Lord’s errand. It brought joy to us to hear the peace and happiness in their voices. They are a tremendous example to us. We are glad they are home!
Bill has juggled so many tasks this year. We are so proud of his work at Caltrans and Shasta College, working with the 11 year old scouts, and mastering the Rubiks cube! For his 40th birthday, “Failure is Not an Option” from NASA was our theme. He underwent “astronaut training”, which included a test flight (a sight seeing tour in a Cessna), a space walk (Tour of river trail on Segways), a night of red carpet treatment on the town, and a surprise party where he was granted the title of “Astronaut Bill”.
Meredith spends her days reading and studying as a junior at Chico State. Her “spare” time is kids, family, carpooling, laundry, homework helper; cooking…you get the idea. She worked with the youth throughout most of the year and now serves in the nursery. Her daily run helps keep her sane. Now that we are on break, the kids report that the dinners are much better!
Anna graduated 8th grade and transitioned into high school smoothly.She was on the swim team during the fall, and participated in the Madrigal Dinner through music program. She is taller and more beautiful than ever. She likes attending early morning seminary. Her parents are proud of the beautiful young woman she is and the positive choices she makes.
Will is now in the 8th grade. He played all star baseball during the summer and soccer for the school team in the fall. He was invited to play on a competitive soccer team after a coach saw his skills with the school team. Will is energetic, witty, and smart.He plays the trumpet and marched in his 3rd parade with the school for the Holiday parade.
Thomas has become a unicycle rider! He also played on the school soccer team (with Will) and was later asked to play on the same competitive team. Thomas is currently on the 6th grade basketball team and was named team captain. He also held the role of Mike TeeVee in the spring play put on at the school, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. He sang and danced on stage! Anna and Matthew were also part of the production. He is a good student and a confident young man!
Matthew held the role of Augustus Gloop in the same play. This character is known for his excessive eating, so Matthew was stuffed with pillows to create the look of this chubby character. He also played all star baseball this summer helping lead his team to a championship! Now in 4th grade, he has also learned to ride the unicycle!

Paij & Brent-All is well here in Mississippi. Another semester is coming to an end and we are very happy to be that much closer to graduating. For Thanksgiving, we went to visit Brent's brother and family in Pennsylvania and spent most of the time in Washington DC. That is such a cool city. This was my first time visiting and I think that place can invoke patriotism in anyone who visits. We loved all the monuments and free museums. We also visited Gettysburg and Hershey, PA for Chocolate World. It was a wonderful time and gratefully the weather cooperated nicely. However, we are happy to be home now and looking forward to our upcoming visit to CA for Christmas. Morgan is growing all the time and is sitting up and playing like crazy. We are hoping we can hold off any crawling until after Christmas but she has a mind of her own so only time will tell. Love you all. Happy Holidays!

LaMont & Evy-Well, MERRY CHRISTMAS from the LaMont and Evy Hunter side of the earth.
This last month has brought much education and savoy to us. First of all, unlike we thought while going through it, there can be life after diverticulitis. We had thought it all ended right there. We were wrong and life does go on.
All of our kids are doing great. We had lots of fun watching volleyball games featuring Emma and Claudia. They are great players and always seem to be happy and set a great example on and off of the court.
Justin and Jana's little guy is doing some fascinating things like signing some 35 words,
blowing out candles, saying a few words, eating and swallowing, climbing on things and being a regular fun kid. It is great to see him smiling and progressing. The boys just finished flag football and Grandma and I weren't able to get to Reno to see them. Hope we can next year.
Paul and Jamyn and family are doing well. Maddi and Annie were in the Manteca Idle
competition where they did extremely well. They sing like a couple of meadow larks.
Aaron and Molly's boys are playing soccer and baseball still and having lots of fun with indoor soccer.
Tye and Melisa and their three magpies are doing well hope to see them before the end of the year. Their little on, Elise, has had to wear braces to help her hip sockets form correctly and is now out of them and loving life.
The old crows are doing well and feeling our ways through life. We cannot write a hundredth part of the things that have happened to so many people... We love you all and love it when you stop by to visit.

Justin & Jana-It is fun to read how and what everyone is doing and up to. T he Reno Hunters are just great. The boys just finished football and played really well. Keathe is in the middle of our first run at home schooling. What a chore! She seems to have learned a ton though, and it gives her a huge taste of self initiative. Its going well. Tennyson is really improving and learning and growing. He can sign about 25 or 30 words!! very impressive. We are working on his verbal skills and he makes progress every week. He has been so healthy for almost a year now. We reaally grateful for that. Jana is still Primary Pres and whipping thos little Mormon kids into shape every Sunday. I am just working and trying to get a house built. It is actually moving along pretty fast. Take care!!

Layne & Frankie-We had a great Thanksgiving.

Caleb - family and Kara - family came for a week. Seth - family and Rebekah - family came for a few days. Rachel - family came to visit each day but got to sleep in their own beds at night. It is very quiet here this morning. Layne is complaining because he has 12 more days of work before Christmas vacation. I will spend 12 twelve days looking for the things the little grandkids have put away for me :).

Hello from Bakersfield. This week we have finally left the 80 degree range. We actually hit 84 last week and broke a record of 82 set back in 1923. It has been nice. Our puppies are almost old enought to give away and we believe that their is a good home already selected for each. It has been really neat to have them. They are so cute and quiet. My children are, of course, begging to keep them but that is not going to happen. It is the most wonderful time of the year!!! Already!!! Wow time flies!!!

Gregory turns 12 on 12-31-08. Does this make me old? We planning on him being ordained during Christmas vacation.

Peyton is doing well and although he gave us a scare, losing 9% lung function in a matter of 3 months, he has now gained most of that function back and is striving to gain weight. He is so healthy, with so many odds against him, that one must realize that it is the priesthood blessings that keep him going.

Elliana is loving the puppies and enjoying learning to play the piano. She also complains of wanting a sister but none have been sent so she still complains.

Seth is trudging along at work and the bills are being paid. What a blessing at a time when so many are hurting.

I still teach and complain, though I really can't it is a good job for my family and covers medical. Other than teaching Gospel Doctorine which is totally intimidating for me, life is good. We are well fed, housed, and loved by the Lord. Please don't pass through Bakersfield without stopping by or saying, "Hello".

Kara & Michael-I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We are enjoying visiting with my parents this year. For the past two years Mike has been on call for the Holiday so Caleb and Ashley have come up for the holiday. This year we get to enjoy spending time with them at my parents house. I guess it is the best of both worlds.
I was looking for an up date on Jarom and if the Lord has seen fit to keep him in America.

Sheila & Lyle-It is nice to have Jenna and Kevin back in the area. Our whole family except for Tanner (in Peru) and Aaron (on call doctor) were able to be at our thanksgiving dinner. It was nice to see all the uncles and aunts from the Mortimer side.

We sent out 9436 invitations to our warehouse sale and had a blast. That's all the homes in Springville and Mapleton and we had a great response. It's like a wedding reception we got to see so many friends.

We've sent out 6000 invitations to Provo and Spanish Fork for this weekend. It will be fun to see who responds.

We've been busy running, reading and responding to calls. Bryce nearly has our new website finished. You can go online and look at the beta site at http://beta.cedarfort.com. If you'd like to sell books, please let Bryce know.

Bryce & Jessica-It’s all happening too fast! We have now moved. We are living in Mapleton. It’s only about 5 minutes away from Mom and Dad’s house in Springville. We’re renting from Jessica’s grandparents. They live on a 7 acre lot right up close to Maple Mountain. They have chickens, and cows, and a horse, so it’s been fun living on a “farm.”

Bryce is still working on his Pilot’s license. He flies today at UVU with his instructor. He has flown solo a couple times, and looks forward to getting his license.

Jessica is working on starting school again at BYU. She still doesn’t know exactly what she wants to major in.

Overall, we are doing well. We just got our new callings in sunbeams and really enjoy having snack and game time during church! :)

Hey family,
Well this week was good. We went to zone conference. It was really neat. We learned about growing our faith. I am sorry in my sentences or structured a little weird I am just forgetting English a little. So I am not trunky but do you all know that I only have 7 weeks left. Next week starts my last change in the mission. I am really set on being an example to the missionaries on how to finish you mission. I have known to many missionaries that trunk out the last few weeks of there mission. My companion and I are really working hard. Here at the beach during summer it is a little hard to touch the hearts of people but we can be there friends. Something I have learned during the mission is you can teach and teach and teach a person but the things they are REALLY going to learn come from the spirit. So I have found that one of the best ways to teach something about something is bare your testimony to them and let the spirit do the teaching. As missionaries we just get people in an environment where the spirit is strong and the spirit teaches them what they need to know. So when my missionaries ask me how can I MAKE people do what is right or at least have the desire to change. Well you can’t MAKE them do what is right but if you can get them to feel the sincere love that you have for them, if I’m explaining well. Get them to feel that you’re sad because you know that they are missing out on blessings. That’s when they’ll want to change there life. Because they will want those blessings, they will want the atonement of Christ to clean their life too. That’s what will get them to change.
The gospel is really beautiful. After a mission of studying of the gospel I am just now learning how to apply it all. You could say I am a slow learner but I like to think that is very complex.

Melisa & Tye-Hi everyone!! It's 9:30pm on Halloween night...Did I cut it close or what?! Anyway...Just wanted to let everyone know about the new addition to our family. We had a baby girl (yes another one...that makes three!!) on September 5th. She is already 8 weeks old today!. She was 7.6 lbs, and 18 inches long according to the hospital. Four days later at her Dr. appointment she was 21 inches long, so who really knows. Her name is Elise. She was named after our great grandmother on our moms side. She is just a sweetheart. Everyone says she looks like her older sisters, which by the way, can't get enough of her.

Allie our 6 year old just started Kindergarten, and loves every second of it. She turned 6 on October 21st, so she is an old Kindergartener...Nevada's birthday deadline is Sept. 30th, so she missed the deadline last year. She loves to play soccer and loves being a big sister! Ashlan is 4 1/2. I love having her home with me while Allie is at school. She keeps me company and is such a good helper. She loves to draw, color and write, and do anything that has to do with art. Tye and I are trying to get used to being outnumbered by three kids, and trying to have fun with it all. Tye quotes Pres. Monson's talk from this past conference when things are getting out of hand. He says...I'm just trying to "enjoy the journey"!

Layne & Frankie- Hi,
Our kitchen, family room, and living is almost finished. We have decided to wait till after the holidays to carpet. Maybe it will be a secret who spills on it first.

We attended our first political rally yesterday at Fresno City Hall. There was about 1000 people there in support of Proposition 8, (Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California). We listened to several ministers of various churches and the LDS bishop who is in charge of our area, Congressman Radonovich and Fresno Mayor Alan Autry. If all of the California voters were like those in the Central Valley, there would be no problem passing the proposition. About 90% of those I have called are voting 'yes', Democrats and Republicans alike.

Rebekah & Seth- Our puppy had puppies. They are tiny like baby rabbits.

I got to run in the volkslav (marine style 10K mud run and obstacle course) and it was so much fun. I get to teach Gospel Doctrine now, along with emergency preparedness specialist and it is so exciting (groan). Oh well you win some you lose so. I guess I am just grateful that I can be of service.

The children are doing very well in school and get their chores done at home, mostly. Peyton has spent a little more time at the doctors then we like but is doing well overall. Actually we are all doing well and looking forward to the holidays.

Halloween is almost here. Can you believe how fast the year is flying by? We had our ward party this past week. This was the first year I didn't have to buy or make a single new Halloween costume. We had enough stuff in the Halloween boxes to dress up all the kids. It is great to have collected so much junk. (I think I will have to do a little dejunking after Halloween.) We are planning to go to a friends punpkin patch for family home evening and pick out our pumpkin today. The kids are really looking forward to the fun.
Life is plugging a long. I am staying busy with Cub scouts. Joseph just earned his wolf and 4 arrow points. He is really motivated. Daniel is working on earning a few more arrow points. It helps to be a leader to understand how the program works. Mike is now out of primary for a time. He has been in primary since we moved into the ward. He is enjoying getting to know a few more people in the ward. He really liked serving in primary and misses it but I am sure they will have him back in there subbing before too long.
We think of family often and hope you are receiving the blessings your famly needs.

We're in the middle of a busy semester and SO looking forward to being back in California for Christmas. Ryan's new job is going really well, and we're loving that he has better insurance than at his old job. Good timing when you're having a baby! Speaking of, on the 30th we went in for our 18 week anatomy ultrasound, and everything looked whole and healthy. Baby and Mom are growing at just the right rate. The baby was squirming like crazy, so the tech had a tough time getting a lot of clear pictures as she chased the little monkey around with the ultrasound wand, but we managed to get a few good ones and posted them on our blog. Adam & Moana-Happy Fall time everyone! All the leaves are changing color and it's getting really cold, so we decided to take a little trip down to Las Vegas. NEIL & MIKE- Dear Family,
I'm not sure what happened to July and August. I know July was spent in sweat and tears repairing, remodeling and repainting...getting ready for the BIG EVENT in August. August was spent waiting for the EVENT, enjoying the EVENT, and cleaning up after the EVENT!!! Haylee and Ry came with their new "Bodie" and of course Dylan and Lexi, Paij and Brent came with their new "Morgan" and Kalli and Terry had their new "Kasen" blessed in our back yard surrounded by about 75 family members. It was a glorious event if you were the parents or the grandparents! (Actually Kalli and Terry ended up blessing Kasen a week earlier because Terry had to go to Arkansas and work) It was actually a week long EVENT and so fun if you're the grandma (that's me!) So we didn't want Sept. to be too boring so we planned a 2500 mile trip which included Aunt Klyda's funeral in Oakley, Ida. A cruise to Mexico and visiting Jarom in San Diego. Our NANNY, Kalli took excellent care of our 4 kids, 93-year-old grandma and 4 cows and 8 goats! (For 10 looong days) Now that we're back, our next SEVERAL Sats. will be spent at the Soccer field cheering on Tayla, Cypress, Nick, Kinny and Tom, none of which are on the same team. By the time we go home our chairs are surrounded by water bottles, peanut shells and candy wrappers... I mean apple cores! I'm sure many of you out there are familiar with the drill. School did start somewhere in the middle of this and finds me driving 3 happy teen-age girls to Seminary. Of course some mornings aren't as happy as others, but they do have good attitudes and rarely complain about the wee hours and most of the time, by the time we get there, they have both eyes open. (I don't) I love the newsletter, thanks again to Jenna for your efforts! We're excited to hear the news from you!!! Congrats to Melissa and Ty on their new little girl!!!! Love, Aunt Mike

It is hard to believe that summer is over and Layne has been back to school for over a month.
We worked hard and played hard. The remodeling in our kitchen is not quite finished and I can still imagine sailing around the San Juan Islands. I wouldn't want to sail across the ocean but if there is scenery to look at and explore, it is fun. Of course, Layne enjoyed the fishing and eating crab.

We were glad that we were finally able to meet up with Lamont and Evelyn even though we had to drive all the way to Idaho to see them. That is why family reunions are so great. I don't want to wait for funerals to see everyone.

What more could a mom ask for. It has taken a few of them far too long in my book to
get to this point but now that we are here it is wonderful. I can enjoy sitting a helping
them when they need help. It is great.
Adam and Karalynn are in a preschool group that 4 of us trade teaching.
Karalynn is going to another preschool but she just wants to do home school.
I don't mind it is fun to watch her learn and grow.
Daniel earned his Bear in August and Joseph will earn his wolf this month.

So Jenna sends the plea for newsletter fodder with the concern that last month's edition was "a little skinny". I'm thinking - "Cool! At least something in my life is slimming down!" I'm not.

I am however conducting a scientific survey that questions whether radiation makes you fat.
The doctor says "only if you irradiate ice cream" which of course I do not consume. (Seriously. No. SERIOUSLY).

So once again, as Layne told me a few months ago... "The doctor is a liar".

My attempt at burning out of control cells in the prostate gland with inter modulated radiation therapy seems to be going along just swimmingly. No hair loss - all major organ groups functioning pretty well... Insurance is sending payments to the provider so I can keep going in every day. Yaay! Some days I like being me!

Donna has been busily going through every room in the house. Last night she took out the two boxes of unsorted photos, and started dealing up like a casino employee. Nine kids and nine grandkids - 38 years worth of pics and she's almost done. Girl got skills!

Emma went to Chico to record a tune she'd written with Cayle and it is marvelous. Van lost a starter there. No. She didn't replace it, but she DID GET it replaced. Niiice! Girl got skills. We went to Cayle's house last Sunday evening for his birthday. Fun time!!

Alexandra is still in Page, Arizona earning dough for college at BYUI. She got skills 2!

Sam is anxious for the semester to end so he can climb his way back into band and other fun stuff. He's been running the audio console for me on Friday nights when I'm doing the play-by-play for the football games... and on Saturdays has been coming along with me to serve as a "spotter"... pointing out the players who are involved in the plays. He's good. Boyee got skills! Or is it "He got skills, boyee"! Either way, I guess. Not really up on my dated street grammar!

You can listen to my morning show (Cal and Bob on the radio) at kblfam.com ... we upload most shoes to the podcast section... and the college games are broadcast live on ktorradio.net on Saturday afternoons. This week (Conference weekend) we're in Merced. Game time 3:00 pacific.

Otherwise, fairly routine. I hear rumor I'm being bumped from counselor 2 to 1 in the Bishopric - Donna is still doing marvelously in Primary President thanks largely to more than adequate bishopric supervision!!! Sam is the assistant to the assistant in the Priest's quorum.

Hillary & Jason-September news already? Sheesh! Time is FLYING! Well Ellie and Hunter are enjoying kindergarten and first grade respectively and Hillary is enjoying volunteering time in their classrooms 3x a week. Hunter is officially a big kid having lost TWO teeth and is loving her new lisp. Max on the other hand is growing teeth four at a time so he's a real peach right now! He makes up for his fussiness with cuteness. All the girls have been enrolled in gymnastics. Reese and Hunter being fearless have taken to it right away but we could not be more proud of Ellie who is scared to death of it but pushes herself without being coaxed to conquer her fears. It's been frustrating but very rewarding. We recently enjoyed a trip to Chico to visit Cayle and his wife Katie for his 31st birthday and they are adorable. We'll try to come up with something more interesting for October news... Love to all!

September has certainly been a crazy month for us and all of the Gulf Coast. We survived Hurricane Ike with no damage, but we were certainly among the lucky few. We stayed hunkered down in our apartment through the storm, as advised, and woke up to find six inches of standing water in the parking lot, and siding ripped off several units, fences blown over everywhere, and several huge trees split in half or even uprooted.

We were also extremely fortunate in that we had electricity the whole time. Buildings to the right and left of us were without power for over a week, but we were very blessed and safe. We learned a lot about emergency preparedness and were so grateful for all the lessons on food storage! All of the grocery stores were closed and without power for a week, but we still had plenty to eat.

In more fun news, we're pregnant! 14 weeks as of right now and just starting to get fat (both of us.)

Hi Family, I hope you are all well! We are all healthy and happy in Utah. Just FYI...
LaMont, Evy, Neil, Mike, Lyle and I went to Oakley Idaho to Aunt Klyda's funeral. Lyle and I were so happy to have Gladys and Mary (Price) ride up with us. We did a lot of laughing, crying and just enjoying a walk down memory lane. I loved every minute of it! It was also wonderful to see Mont and Evy after their mission, and Mike and Neil as well. Aunt Klyda's funeral was very nice. She was such a special aunt to all of us. I was always her "little Sheila," (even when I wasn't so little), and I will miss those sweet moments we occasionally shared, mostly on the phone in her later years. I called her only days before she died to see how she was doing. It was good to hear her voice. You could almost see her smiling through the phone. Klyda was buried quite close to her best friend and sister Alta in the Oakley cemetery. It was also very nice to see so many cousins and other Oakley friends at her funeral. Many had to tell me who they were, but I could always tell that I had "seen that face somewhere before." When we went out to the Oakley cemetery, I felt overwhelming love for my roots. What is it about that old place? Not much to look at, and you wonder if the folk around there could spare a little water. For the first time I took a good look around and saw the beautiful mountains and the quaint little town of Oakley Idaho and I realized what a special place on earth it is. We are so blessed to have so many loved ones of the Cooper and Hunter families buried there. Grandma and Grandpa Hunter and Grandma and Grandpa Cooper, not to mention countless others. Even Layne and Frankie’s little girl is buried there. How old would she have been? Anyway, I am so proud of my family. All of you! You are what make my life worth living.

Hi Family! We are all happy and healthy notwithstanding a major slow down at work and the need to put our house up for sale and move back to Utah! (Okay…so we ARE happy about that!) We just went on a fun cruise to Baja Mexico, with friends and family, which we LOVED. (Even with the 3 days it took AFTER the cruise to get RID of our sea legs!!!)

Where did the summer go? I’m glad we had the family reunion because
that’s about all Jessica and I have done. I did go to Lake Powell with Young Men’s and

Trevor & Charmayne- Well, August sure was fun for our family. We all went to Bakersfield with Trevor for his training week. The boys and I did some school shopping and hanging with Rebecca and her boys while Trevor was in school. We spent a lot of time in the pool and just hanging out. The boys spent some time in the workout room as well. I wasn't sure what the draw there was but they seemed to enjoy it. We got a chance to see Seth's new house and all the improvements they are making to it. They are sure gonna had will be getting a breathing machine soon for his sleep apnea. Then there was the week long party to celebrate our 3 new babies. It was quite fun juggling them all around. Seemed like when it was mealtime, we all had our hands full. The babies were great and seemed to be enjoying the attention mostly. Now school has started and Race is taking Algebra 2 at the high school. Then I have to bring him back to his middle school. Looks like I'll be doing the same thing with Nick in 2 years. He's in 5th grade now taking 7th grade math. Next year he'll take Algebra 1. He earned 100% on the Math Star Testing last year. He was advanced level in language arts as well. This was Kinny's first year to be tested and he received advanced level in math and language also. He was so very excited to have scores like his brother’s. Nick and Kinny are both doing soccer. Of course, they are not on the same team nor do they practice on the same day. I just hope we can make it through the next 2 months and still like it. We had some changes to our scouting program and now we all go on the same night. Kinny will be starting with me next month. Nick is leaving me to join Webelos with Terry, and Race is 1st class.

Paij & Brent-Things are going well here in the Collins Clan. Brent and I both finished another semester of school (summer) with good grades and are happy to being that much closer to finishing. We also had a wonderful trip to CA this last week. We went to my best friend from high school's wedding in Monterey and the weather couldn't have been nicer (please remind me why I live in Mississippi). I'm sure it's been mentioned that we blessed Morgan along with Haylee's Bode and pretended with Kalli's Kasen. It was a wonderful trip and we're a little sad to be back home. Morgan is growing like a weed but mostly only up not out. I'm sure we're going to have to get used to that. She is so much fun. Love you guys.

Rachel & Rob-Hello Everyone, Things are going good in this part of California. It is a little hot 106 today but I am sure those in Arizona don't think we have much to complain about. The kids are back in school and the house is quiet with just Elizabeth and I home. Alex and Boyd are doing soccer this year. Cody is doing tennis. All three of them just started piano up again with a new teacher so I am driving around a lot. Our house is getting sheet rock put up next week so it is moving along nicely. Our other house in Fresno fell out of escrow again so it still hasn't sold. We may decide to keep it as a rental. Well that is about all that is happening here. Oh I forgot our dog Lady Australian Shepard just had 8 puppies. That’s all for this month.

Rebekah and Seth-Well school has started again and the rhythm of it has ensued.
Gregory is so excited to have joined drum line this year. I swear if that boy could he
would learn every instrument invented. He is dedicated to each and practices daily
so his band teacher is very happy. His father, on the other hand, is weary of 2-3
hours of trumpet, saxophone, trombone and piano. At least the drums are staying
at school. He does get and hour of them each morning during zero period.

Peyton is doing well so far. He and Elliana still get to go to the same school and he
does good waking her to class. He still loves guitar and would like the
Black Widow, in addition to his 2 acoustic ones. I don't know much about the electric
guitar so if there are any suggestions about quality or the right ones to buy feel free to let me know.

Elliana gets to recite her first poem today. Each week they will recite various poems.
She was a bit nervous but has practiced and had the poem down perfect. So, we said
prayers and figured what more can you do? Other than the poems she is enjoying school.

My classes are so far so good.
Seth is still trudging along at his job also.
We did get to visit with Trevor and Charmayne's family earlier this month. I had a good
time. Hopefully we will be able to visit with more of you in such and enjoyable manner.
Oh, by the way if you own a watercraft never invite Trevor on it because one that has
NEVER had a problem will suddenly not work. :)

house and shampooing the carpet so we could have a clean house to start the
semester. Not a lot of fun, but we're glad we took the time while we still had a
little. School has started in full swing and Ryan is starting a new job with
National Oilwell Varco this month, which we're excited about. Guess we'll
update next month on how that goes! Congrats to the Mike and Neil family on
all three grandbabies being in Gridley at once for a giant baby blessing.

SHEILA & LYLE-Hi family,
The Mortimer's are getting use to school starting and life being a little more predictable. It's tough you know...no more late nights and serendipity moments like a midnight run to Wal-Mart It seems there is always something going on. Lyle is much less visible in the home, but is anxiously engaged in a good cause around the neighborhood, and sitting behind a desk at church and work. Leisha is taking violin and piano lessons, and has tried out for two plays, "Thoroughly Modern Millie", and "Arabian Nights". (No news yet on either one.) She has said good bye to several young men going on missions, (she says there all just friends) and is enthralled with book four of the "vampire series." "Breaking Dawn". Come on people, you know what I'm talking about. I'm a little bummed because McCain forgot about Romney, boo hoo. The things candidates do for a vote. We love meeting on Monday nights with our married kids for FHE. We have dinner, a lesson and this week we did a service project at Spencer's and Shanille's new home, we painted several rooms. Tanner is doing well. Several of us have our tickets for Peru to pick him up in January. Woo Hoo. We love you all and hope all is well.

Hi Family! Kellan and Gavin started soccer yesterday! Kellan made 2 goals and Gavin got to be goalie! Their games were at the same time at different fields, so we got split up. Kaden’s band teacher asked him to switch from alto sax to tenor sax and he is already caught up with the class. I’m thrilled because it’s the school’s sax, so no more rentals!!! We’re going on our first cruise in a couple weeks. All of the boys brought their mid-term grades home this week. They are all doing fantastic and I love their teachers! We’re just plugging on. Work is slow for Kevin. We’re hoping the building industry doesn’t take too long to turn around.

hi family,
I had an AWESOME week. Let me just tell you. Wow.... okay so first and
foremost important. I involuntarily participated in the running of the bulls.
I did another division this week. (As a zone leader you do divisions kinda a lot).
His name is Elder Laidlaw from Colorado. He is a convert; he’s 23 and has
4 months in the mission. He already knows Spanish really well. He is funny.
I like him. He has a super strong testimony. And was Methodist before he
converted. But anyway about the bull. I was walking down the street headed
to the church to do some tour contacting and my comp elder laidlaw said
OH that’s a bull. And he said it so surprisingly cavalier that I wasn’t immediately
alarmed but when I looked down the road there was a huge bull half a block
away running full speed in our direction. I was like a deer caught in the headlights.
I didn’t know if I should run, for fear that is might chase us, or to stay where I was.
But a man in front of me just started to take off running so we followed suit.
We where running so fast and my blood was pumping so hard that we where
surely carried on angels wings to escape or beastly demise. Yeah but come to
find out later the bull escaped from a bull fighting ring in the jungle or something.
But we are okay... :)

The next thing that happened this week that was really interesting was my English
classes I told you all about last week. I guess my flyers paid off because this last
week a little over 40 people came with more coming this week. I was so surprised
they just kept showing up. I was happy that I came prepared. and I was lucky to
still be on divisions with elder laidlaw because it would have been really hard to teach
all 40 of them by myself. It was really cooooool. Seriously one of the most special
activities of my mission. And this week when 50 or 60 come I plan on watching a
church movie in English with Spanish subtitles. Sweet huh?
And third thing interesting this week is my tours of the chapel are coming along
quite nicely. We met a really really interesting couple. Strict Catholics that I think
we are going to baptize but they don’t live in my area. I contacted them but had to
give the reference to some other missionaries in my district. I talked to them today
about them and they told me that the whole family is awesome and THANK YOU
SO MUCH for the reference. I was really happy.

-Kalli & Terry- July flew by! We are enjoying time with dad home and Kasen here. We had a great time at Cayle and Katie's wedding and boy did they look happy! We look forward to the last month of summer with the fair, Paij and Haylee coming to visit, a three baby family blessing, Tayla's b-day, and what ever else comes along. Being on a mission is great. Being home from a mission is also great but probably the harder thing to do. We are home and having fun trying different things to bring in a few shekels here and there.

We got home just a few days after family reunion, and now we had promised Jamyn we would watch her kids while they went on an Alaska Cruise so we weren't able to get to Cayle's wedding. So again we missed the family get together. What you would think is that... but it's not true. We love you all and are sorry we couldn't get to the wedding.

Evy and I are back in seminary. We don't know what class we teach yet but are grateful to be back in the early morning classroom. We really enjoy it. This will be our 13th year of teaching seminary.

I'm back to playing racquetball but it dogs me. Either I am old or way out of shape. We play every Saturday morning if any of you are passing through stop by and shoot a game.

Congratulations on your new calling Uncle Lyle. You will be a great Bishop. The ward members are lucky to have you there.

We have been busy here with the temple open house. We have had days that we have served as Ushers and security. It has been fun to see all the people that are coming to see the temple. There is a buzz in the newspaper about the few protesters. I think if nothing else they are bringing more people to the temple because people want to know what all the hype is about.
A few weeks ago as I served for security with the temple open house I was again reminded about how small the world is. I was sitting in the office (classroom in the new stake center) visiting with my neighbors father. I knew they had lived in the Bay area for a while before moving here to Twin Falls so I asked a few questions. You know the do you know….. question. Well come to find out Grant Maughan (the man I was talking to) married Lynn Butler. Lynn ’s family was in the ward in Hayward with the Hunters’ from Oakley. I spoke with Lynn and she wanted to know how all the Aunts and Uncle were doing. She remembered that Uncle Neil and her pretty much had a standing date every weekend. Grandma Hunter was also Lynn ’s Young Woman’s leader. She could not say enough good things about grandma. Lynn said Grandma was here favorite leader and as she has served in young woman’s she has often thought about Grandma. The longer I am here in Twin Falls I am finding more people with little connections to the Hunter family.
The Open house continues though August 16, 2008 so if there is any family that would like to come we always have space for visitors and few extra places at the dinner table.
The summer is winding down. I go to a water aerobics class in the early morning and this morning it was cold and dark when I arrived. I thought to my self “ahhh” winter is coming and I can’t do anything about it. I guess I will just have to enjoy the warm afternoons for a little longer and bundle up a little more in the morning.

-CALVIN & DONNA- I've always felt well about having my children drive. UNTIL NOW! I am sending this message to you to offer fair warning that Alexandra has a driver's license! THIS IS A PUBLIC RECORD FACT, SO YOU CAN VERIFY THIS CLAIM IF YOU WISH.
Why am I alarmed? No reason. But please, if you are traveling in Southern Utah or Northern Arizona in the next three months STAY OFF THE HIGHWAYS or find a professional (like a laid off Greyhound driver, or maybe a postal worker who already drives on the wrong side of the street, like Alexandra does) to shuttle you around. I wonder if we lived in Australia if Al would drive on the right side of the road, just to be a contrarian? Hmmm.

Northern Arizona because Al has gotten a full time job in Page AZ working for a former Redding couple who has moved there to teach school. They have a new baby and Al has a job to earn money to get her through BYU IDAHO, where she will go in the winter semester.

Thanks to each of you who were able to take the time to come up to Cayle's wedding. It was a lovely ceremony... well attended, and Neil will now have to put his eyeballs back in their sockets. He can explain why they were on his cheeks, if he wishes to do so. at some future date. Suffice it to say he was impressed with the loveliness of the Redding home where the wedding was conducted, all the the lovely shrubbery, etc. that was there.

I'm headed out to Utah soon for the annual FAIR conference that studies anti-LDS doctrines, their origins and the truth as we currently understand it. Very interesting stuff. I'm just the audio tech and recordist... but I get in free and learn a great deal every year.

Donna is up to much of the same. Sewed I think 27 wedding related items like dresses and so forth. Five dresses came out of it, I believe. But to hear her tell it she sewed enough (and ripped out enough seams) to have made a couple of dozen dresses!

Emma is still working in the Penny's catalog and Optical departments and attending a light school schedule.

Sam is enjoying his summer... working a little and playing a lot.

Sophie the wonderdog is well.

All the family was here for the wedding., All nine kids - all nine grandkids. Awesome. A sweet moment.

-Hillary & Jason- July has been busy! Rogersons have been trying to stay cool in the heat- kids are always in swimsuits and ragamuffin but it's summer! They did manage to clean up and get dressed for Cayle's wedding. They looked like 3 little angel girls and my boy Max was wearing pants that were too small so we tried to pull them off as shorts... yeah. The wedding was beautiful! Katie is a supermodel of a bride and Cayle is the luckiest man on earth! She's as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Cayle looked so handsome and happy. I think Katie lucked out too:) My bro happens to be pretty amazing. Thank you to all the family who came- It was wonderful to see you and share the evening with you. I wish I had been able to spend more time with you. And Race- I'm still waiting for you to text me! Love to all!

-Sarah & Ryan- Ryan and Sarah McMullin: We just got back from Cayle's wedding, which was beautiful and SO much fun! It was great to see those of you who could come. As for us here in Houston, it's just a busy summer of work. Ryan's busy with Pointe Pest Control, and I'm interning at the Department of Homeland Security in the Immigration and Customs Enforcement division. The work is fascinating, and I get to meet all sorts of interesting characters. Just one more month, and it's back to school in the fall. Hope everyone is well and enjoying their summers!

I don’t know if I can think of that many things to say. :) Kevin’s work has really slowed down, so he is working hard on getting more work. We had a blast visiting the family in Utah! -Adam & Moana- We had a fun month full of family reunions and parties. Our twin boys Kenneth & Chandler are both walking now! Luckily they still stick together and aren't running in separate directions (not yet at least!) For the 4th of July we went to the Stadium of Fire and saw the Blue Man Group and Miley Cyrus perform. Lyle's company had a party and we got to go horseback riding. We went to Lyle's family reunion and had a blast there. We also went to a natural spring swimming pool. It was freezing cold but so fun! Last week we saw Abba live in concert. Chandler's first big word at the concert, believe it or not was.... FERNANDO! No joke! Love you all, come visit us anytime!

-Melisa & Tye Hanseen-Hi everyone!! It's the Hanseens in Las Vegas...still waiting for visitors. It's been a long time since I have written into the Hunter Herald, but I read it every month. I love to hear from everyone!! We were sad we couldn't make it to the reunion. It looks and sounds like it was a great time. Hopefully next year we'll make it. Well, since I wrote last (About a year ago) Tye started a new job (same stuff different firm), I'm 6 1/2 months pregnant with our third girl!! (I couldn't be happier about having another girl. All girls would be great with me!) I'm due September 12th. Allie (our oldest girl...5 years old) Loves to play soccer, and scored 10 goals in her last soccer game of the season. She'll be starting kindergarten in August. She also loves to read!! Ashlan (our second girl...4 years old) loves to do ballet, and the only thing she wants is to be "on the stage". She has a personality all her own...well I guess she's a lot like Tye too. We're leaving tonight for California to hear my mom and dad’s home coming talks. We are so excited to see them!! Layne and I are preparing for girl's camp. We leave on 7-7.

We are really sad that we will not be able to attend Cayle's wedding. We have a Joseph's baptism in Twin Falls and a sailing-fishing trip in Washington already planned. We will be away from the Branch for 2 Sundays and that is 2 too many according to Layne.

-Rachel & Rob Fransen- It is so easy to keep putting off writing about the month but time keeps marching on so I guess it is now or never. We had a wonderful time at reunion. After reunion we went to visit a friend in the Paradise area and found out her house had burned down with the fires in the area. It was very sobering and a reminder of what is important. She was very upbeat and thankful that she had some time to gather pictures and such before they were evacuated. Some advice she gave is have important documents in a small box with a handle not in a huge file cabinet that you have to go through to get stuff out of. Have a list of things that are most important because your mind doesn't think straight when trying to figure out what to take and what to leave. Most importantly don't think you are coming back. Her renters took hardly anything because they were not really concerned and now they have lost everything.
Now on a better note we are all healthy and enjoying the summer. We are getting ready for a trip to Texas. It is fun to see Rob's Family. Our house is moving along. The roof should be done this week. Well I better get packing for Texas.

-CALVIN & DONNA HUNTER- Here's the latest news from Calvin and Donna Hunter.

1- Donna is now as old as I. She turned 55 June 2nd. Looks like she's about 35. I make up for it, though, by looking about 80.

Oh all right. 85!

Alexandra is a high school graduate... Yes. She made it! Our last, Sam will be a junior next year? Is that right? and a European traveler. Now she's a BYU Idaho admittee... Man oh Man!! No wonder I look 80, Oh all right. 85!

Sam and Al went to the Medford, Oregon Temple Saturday May 30, to do baptisms. Sam bore his Testimony that Sunday. Very cool. Alexandra spoke the next Sunday. (Bummer, having Dad in the Bishopric, and tracking youth speaking assignments)!

Cayle is still getting married toward the end of July. We're all atwitter about that here, you know. Graduation, advancement in school, Alexandra takes her school choir trip to Europe, Independence Day and the big, humongous Redding fireworks display... (the best in all the land- look it up!)... and then a wedding. Woo Hoo. My summer is set! Except for these forest fires. (Sniff...sniff. "He can find a fire, before he spots the flame... that's why they call him Smokey, that is how he got his name..." Where is that da*** bear when we need him??

Speaking of fireworks... I was judging a "Star Spangled Banner" contest, to see who would sing the anthem at the opening of a smaller community's (Anderson, CA) fireworks display. (Since postponed - smoke and fires, no bear in the woods, blah blah blah)

You know... it's still the most beautiful song in the world. Country scoop singers... Hip Hoppers performing vocal aerobics with every long note... Middle aged crooners who want to pay tribute to the troops... no matter who sings it... or how... It's beautiful!

No... it's nothing in comparison to the great hymns. How can you beat "I KNow That My Redeemer Lives?" But you get the idea.

The dog is well. One of our cats came in the house recently (not really our cats- we're their adoptive family- their choice, not ours)... and Alexandra picked up the cat and the foulest smelling goo came out. I thought it had a gut infection or something and was prepared to send it to the fuzzy gates. It was an infected sore on the leg that whooshed open sending out the malodorous ooze. It was so bad (and I am not making this up) it actually made Donna (remember, the mother of nine kids- whatever it may be she has seen it and smelled it) to actually dry heave!

Like they say in the credit card commercials. Priceless!

The wounds cleaned up well, and the aforementioned kitty is alive and well.

So is Donna.

The hallway by the bathroom, where this all happened, may never be the same. And neither will we.

-Hillary & Jason Rogerson- Hello, hello! Happy Summer to all of you! We're so sad we missed the Hunter family reunion but heard nothing but glowing reports of it. Thank you Uncle Neil and Aunt Mike (and I'm sure Kalli and Charmayne were heavily involved as well!) Anyway the Rogerson summer has been packed but not with anything too terribly note worthy. Hillary is working as a waitress at a new restaurant in town owned by a Gold Medal chef. It's very unique and DELICIOUS! She is also running a theater academy for the next three weeks and it's going VERY well so far with a lot of community support. Jason will be done with his Bachelors THIS MONTH!!!! He's already transitioned into his master's program and is doing very well. We also got a new scooter to run around on to help save gas money! Max is six months and started crawling last week. Reese is a big helper and Ellie and Hunter are already counting down days to the first day of school. We had a neat experience with one of our close friends getting baptized recently and all and all the Rogersons are HAPPY :) Congratulations to Kalli on little Kasen. He's adorable! Love to all!

They were entered in the twin division and got 1st place! They won a lot of prizes and will be in the grand 4th of July parade! -Bryce & Jessica Mortimer- It’s time to write already?!? Jessica and I had a lot of fun at the Hunter Reunion. It was fun seeing so many people there, especially Jarom and his girl friend. We enjoyed being able to play on the water, Snype hunt, paint faces, attend the talent show, and be with great company. If you weren’t there, we hope to see you next year! Aunt Mike and Uncle Neil and family did a fantastic job with the reunion. Thank you!!!

-Tanner Mortimer- Hey, This week was good. Last week my awesome comp left me. But good news, I’m a dad. My son came Wednesday. It’s fun to train. It’s hard to believe that I was ever that new... I only have 6 months left. Huh.. Sweet huh? I am pretty excited about it. I am pretty excited to forge my own path in the world.
What else. So Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday I had to look for temp comps and I pretty much lost those days to work. It sucked pretty bad. But I did play a pretty sweet prank on my comp when he finally did get here. I played the same trick my comp in the mtc played on his greeny. We went to a member’s home and taught the word of wisdom than afterwards he brought out some bear bottles filled with pop and said drink these and I’ll get baptized. So I slurped down my Inca kola in the bahama bottle and just looked at the look on my comps face. It was pretty funny. For how brown he is he turned really red.
My district is good. I am really happy that I know Spanish. I was just talking with a taxi driver this morning for the whole ride and I thought to myself wow I am fluent. It’s pretty cool.
We are working hard on getting a bunch of new investigators. My comp has trouble teaching. He gets really, really nervous. He has only been a member two years. But he is cool. A little quiet. But I guess all greenys are. He’s from Piura, Peru and 20 years old. All his family was baptized two years ago with him.
Well I think that is all I can write for today. But I love you all and I am always thinking about you. I can’t wait until we are all together in Peru throwing rocks at stray dogs and giving diseased monkeys high fives.

Aunt Mike's summary of the Hunter Reunion...
(Thanks Aunt Mike! )

Hunters' 2008 Hawaiian Happenin Reunion is over and some of you missed it. Those who did...WE MISSED YOU!!!! Many made great sacrifices to get there..like Mike (Kara's husband) and Matt and Carali driving all night from Utah. Beau and Shannon coming from Ohio, Ben and Meagan and Sheila, Lyle, Leisha, Byce and Jessica, and Shae coming from Utah, Jenna and Kevin coming from Arizona, Jarom coming from Iraq, Kaylee and Olive coming alone until late Friday night because Zac's was in CHP Bootcamp, Meredith and Bill arriving at midnight Friday night. Kara coming from Idaho alone with her 5 angels. Lisa coming back and forth because she did a wedding at the same time. Sarah coming from Texas. Of course thanks to all of the rest of you who drove severals hours from all over Ca. Everyone felt like they were in Hawaii Friday night when they attended the Luau in their flowered attire and leis. It was quite a sight!!! The Kalua pork feast was followed by a fish pond, bean bag toss, and spectacular face painting by Aunt Sheila and Byrce and Jessica, (we did miss our hula lesson!!) Following the dinner there was the arrival of Cayle and his fiancee, Katy. Yes, folks she is as beautiful as he said she was! The variety show followed with such acts as Cody filling his mouth with 18 mints, Beau singing a whimsical song about certain famlly members and cholestrol, Sam's phenonminal mastery of "rubics cube", dancing ,jokes, guitar playing, more singing...."America who's got talent" watchout!.
Following those festivities there was mention of a "snipe hunt" and about 15 brave souls came forth with the always necessary snipe bag. There were no flash lights allowed only our fearless leader Jenna was allowed a tiny red head lamp. Marching ever so quietly through the woods we arrived at the lake/pond and prepared for "the Hunt"! After some time without even a single snipe sighting we determined to move on back toward camp. While approaching a bridge strange sounds were heard to the East of us. However, after a birrage of flashlights, all was still, very still. So we moved forward, our now antcy bunch. Then after crossing the bridge there was more sound coming from the eastwardly direction. We stopped, we clung, we watched, we slowly began walking again, quite a bit more anxious now. We had only gone a few feet when there was a blood curdling scream and we turned to see "Big foot" alive and flashing flourescent green eyes at us, standing in the middle of the bridge . Some cried, some freaked, some laughed. Without saying a word He jumped back into the woods and then proceeded to jump out at us at varying intervals, as we shakingly made our way hurredly back to the safety of camp. ....Then we all helped him find other victims pretending to be sleeping in their tents.
Sat. morning we all gathered at the "chapel" and Neil, Layne, Calvin, Sheila and Greg filled our hearts with precious memories of Grandpa Boyd and Grandma Gene Hunter. We enjoyed "their" visit with us. The family meeting was well represented with not only the "basic" sibleys but anyone else over 18 who wanted to attend.The voting was unanimous for a dues to be paid by all married couples in the Hunter clan, for this year in the amount of $20. This money would then be available for the family in charge to use the following year to pay for the reunion expenses. This amount is to be paid whether you were able to attend this year or not. It was voted to do this for one year only and then re-evalute at next year's reunion. Jenna was nominated as the treasurer and will be responsible for tracking the funds. She will let everyone know when she has the account set up. Please send your dues at that time. Everyone had positive things to say about "Zion's Camp" and that it would be a good choice next year or any year.

Letter to a 6th grade class H. Boyd Hunter taught 50 years ago. Sheila Mortimer was asked to write a few historical tidbits for their class reunion.

Memories and Hearsays
of the life of
Harrison Boyd Hunter
Born February 20, 1918-Oakley Idaho
Died January 28, 1996-Springville, Utah

Life in Oakley:
Boyd began teaching school at the Oalkey grade school in Oakley Idaho in 1942. He taught sixth and seventh grade. He also taught P.E to the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eight graders. He was also the basketball coach, playing about five games a year with Burley and other surrounding schools in the area. He always had a special way of teaching, that made you feel like you could do anything.
My brother Neil remembers dad working with the Church Pentathalons. Some of you may remember. He would take the top ten athletes from Oakley to Burley where they would compete to go to Salt Lake City and fight for the Western championship. I guess they would run, high jump, and several other events. He took a team down three or four different times. A few names Neil remembered were Robert Palmer, Deloy Pasket, Gary Loyd and the Bedkey boy.

Moving on:
Dad had a hard time making a living in Idaho. He farmed, drove bus, and taught school and still found it a bit challenging. His brother Quenten talked him into moving to California where the money for school teaching was quite a lot better. Our family moved to the bay area, Hayward California in 1964. Dad taught at Winton Grove Elementary. Once again he worked with the sixth graders. They would give him the students that had a hard time learning for one reason or another. He always knew how to help them focus. If they couldn't quit talking or were having a particularly hard day and couldn't settle down, he would have them take a couple laps around the backstop. The kids seemed to love him even more for it.

Church:
Dad had a great love for the LDS church. When he and mom married, she was not a member. He, alone would faithfully dress and bring the kids to church. We never saw him miss. Mom began feeling "left out" and a few years later she was baptized and was a great leader. Dad served as a bishop for quite a few years, and served a mission after mom died.

Family:
I am the fifth of six children of Harrison Boyd and Gene Cooper Hunter and the only girl. Dad was very proud of his sons, but he always made me feel like a princess. My father was perfect in my eyes, kind, wise, and wonderful. My mother felt the same way. She wrote of their courtship and first date, "He was so handsome with his dark wavey hair and blue eyes, and happy smile. He was wearing a stockman suit of light brown and smelled like old spice after shave. I had a great time just being with him, we talked half the night away. I remember how comfortable I felt with him. When I got home I woke mom up and told her that I had met the man I was going to marry." They were married December 27, 1944. Mom died in 1984 of cancer.

I hope this brief Personal History of my father will be of some value to the students he thought so highly of and gave so much of himself to bless and enrich their lives. I have enjoyed recalling happenings that had temporarily escaped my memory.

-NEIL & MIKE- May is such a lovely time to be a grandma twice!!! May 22nd and May 23rd an angel dropped from heaven and we get to give them kisses and hugs only not very often because they live in Mississippi and Utah and I DON'T! I got to spend 7 fun filled days with the new: "Morgan Collins" (Paij's) and now I'm in Utah with the new "Bode Davis" (Haylee's) for 5 days. It doesn't get any better then this until June 25th when yet another angel will be arriving, but that's for next month's newsletter!!!. As you may well remember that after May comes June and that's the very month of the Hunter's Happening Hawaiian Holiday Reunion!!!! It's almost here and it will be worth it!!!! PLEASE COME! If you can't make it well.......I may have to take your youngest child ........or something. I'm still waiting for the numbers. Frankie is the only one I've heard from with who’s attending. Don't make uncle Neil have to call you!!!! Love Aunt Mike

-Trevor & Charmayne-With School winding down, numerous fun field trips, and after school activities ending it seems like summer vacation is almost here!!! Yeah. Our scouting program is being reorganized (meaning everyone is new but me- lucky huh?). So we will have a great summer program. I'm also getting busier with vinyl jobs that help fill in my days. Trevor is still enjoying his new job, although he just had his 6-month review so maybe not so new anymore. He is trying to build a rat rod and is in need of some financial backing so.... He is also finally getting rid of some of the excess vehicles we have acquired in the back. Race has a girlfriend () and seems to be getting along well. He is camping in Manchester for a class trip this week. Nick has his first sunburn of the year from Sunsplash, another class trip. Kinny just got an A on his first biography and is super excited since only 3 other kids in his class even finished it on time. So that about sums it up, see you all in a few weeks.

-Kalli & Terry- We got moved into our new house this month thanks to lots of help from our awesome ward. We are officially from Gridley now. We are scheduled to have our baby on the 25th of this month and I will still be at the Reunion, so you all have no excuse! :) We are excited for summer and to see you all. Love the Hills

-Paij & Brent- May has been an exciting month for us. Our Morgan Kennedy Collins was born on May 22^nd,at 9:30pm. I was induced in the morning and after 5 hours of being dilated to 4cm with no sign of progression, they decided to do a C-Section at 9pm. It wasn’t the preferred method of delivery but it worked out and she is healthy and beautiful; so that’s what matters. She was 6lbs and 4oz and 21in long. She got the Hunter nose for sure but is long and thin like her daddy. She has been a great sleeper so far and so much fun. We are so blessed to have her. -LAMONT & EVY-Jenna you are the queen of the hop in my book. As if life and family don't throw you enough tasks to do without doing a family news paper that requires the begging for articles from its readers. Thanks for doing it. If it were done quarterly would that make your end of things any easier? I'm sure you have thought of that but if not consider. (I REALLY love doing this monthly newsletter, but if quarterly sounds better to everyone just let me know and we can switch!)

We are getting ready to come home from Latvia in about two weeks after a lovely little tour in Riga. We have done things that we would never do; seen things we would never have had the chance to view and felt things in our hearts and those of others, that we didn't know existed. We are sorry we were not able to get home for reunion. Next year I guess it is our turn to put it on, so we will for sure see all of you there. (Wherever there is). We are going to try to take a few small trips to see you within a few weeks after we get home. We have felt disconnected to all of you for this past little while and long to get hooked back up. Family is by far the biggest sacrifice when serving a mission. But our little bit of hard isn't anything when compared to dad's dad Cyrus Rozel Hunter's mission, who was called to serve in the Chicago area shortly after he and Emma Louisa Severe were married. He was gone for three years. Ma was with child when he left for the mission field. She wrote and asked what she should name their first child and Pa's choice was Elsworth, after his mission president. You have heard of Uncle Quentin, but not Uncle Elsworth so much as he died as a young boy.

Our mission has been filled with some hard times, for us at least, but great times. If you have the choice to serve or not, we highly recommend service.

Just a quick memory of dad and mom. Dad used to wake up in the dancing est, happiest, friskiest jolliest moods in the morning after a good sleep, and those moods would drive Mom crazy. He would dance around and smile and look so forward to the new day then realize that nobody was going up there on that happy high with him and so he would come back down a little at a time to a still above normal state of happiness. That is how he usually went about his days. Happy, ready to make a joke or laugh at one, always seeing the humor in life and what it handed him. Dad was a super hard worker and gave all of us a good example of success being hard work and a happy temperament. Of course there would be things that would get him down, but after reviewing strategy with mom and I am sure the Lord, He rev ed his motor of happiness again and worked to accomplish their goals.

The Reno Hunters hope everyone is doing well and find themselves healthy.

School is out for everyone and it is fun to have the kids home. Harrison and Noah are cruising along in scouts and Jackson is getting pretty amped-up about starting school with all the "big kids" in July. (year round schedule). Kaethe is starting tennis camp and then heading into JUNIOR HIGH! When did this happen? All of a sudden we are one of those families in the ward who have kind of older kids with most of them baptized and one in young womens. Wow! Time just flies.

Tennyson has ear, nose, and throat surgery today. Literally has a surgery for his permanent ear tubes, tonsils and adenoids removal for his throat, and a sinus "roto-rooter" procedure for his main sinuses. Kind of a big deal for him, but we hope it makes him feel tons better. He is doing pretty well.

Jana is still slammed with Primary President stuff along with being a mom, I am busy with work and building a house, but we are having fun and can't wait for mom and dad to be back!

-LAYNE & FRANKIE-This weekend, I am going to meet Emma Gene Hunter, born on April 30. It was 2 days before Caleb's graduation but her arrival didn't keep Ashley from attending. Ashley borrowed a wheelchair, left the kids with Grandma Johnson and attended the ceremony.

I was able to attend Matthew and Benjamin's graduation from BYU, the week before.

We got a new computer but it doesn't make it any easier to remember what we have been doing for the past few months.
School, church, yard work, and kids seem to keep us busy and happy as ever.

-Rachel & Rob- Hello everyone we are so excited that
reunion is so close.  We missed y'all last year but we
will be there this year.  Our family is doing great.
Dale has just graduated from kindergarten.  He did a
great job this year and is becoming a little reader.
His arm has healed nicely.  Right after he got the cast
off he wanted to learn to ride his bike without training
wheels.  We didn't like that idea.  We compromised
by using a brace to keep his arm safe.  Now he is
trying to keep up with his older brothers.  Boyd finished
2nd grade with honors.  Next year they will put him in
an honors class because he can't get enough learning.
Alex has survived 5th grade.  He struggled with turning
in homework but has finally worked it out and is doing
good.  Hopefully he won't loose it over the summer.
Cody finished 7th grade with a 4.0.  He is a hard worker
and takes his schoolwork very seriously.  Elizabeth is
walking.  She gets into everything.  She especially loves
emptying things.  My purse, cupboards, garbage cans
and dishwasher.  If we catch her she starts giggling and
working faster so she can accomplish more before we
stop her.  Rob has started the huge project of building
our house.  I am excited we are started but I know it will
take a long time.  I am still doing music in primary and
love it more and more every week.  Serving in the
primary is so great.   We will see you all soon.

We are so excited school is almost out. I wonder why I have to send my kids the last week of school. Between the movies they watch and the field trips they go on I bet I could just keep them home and have fun as a family. Oh well.
This morning was McKayla's kindergarten graduation. They sang us songs and we were able to enjoy them a few moments together. The announcer for the graduation pointed out that her class will be the class of 2020.
We are staying busy packing for our trip to California. We are looking forward to the warm sun and green grass. We have had a lot of storms this past little while. The grass is green but if you step on it your shoes are sure to be brown with mud. Yesterday we rode our bike to school but in the afternoon we weren't able to ride them home because it was pouring down rain. Once I got to the school and loaded the (3) bikes in the van the sky dried up and my kids didn't know why I wasn't letting them ride home. Oh, well we decided to try again this morning we will have to wait and see what this afternoon will bring.
I have been accepted to the University of Idaho. I am going to start taking classes in August. I hope I am able to balance my schooling that of my kids. It looks like I should be able to do quite a few classes on line so I won't need to be in a classroom at a specific time. I hope to get registered and all my unanswered questions ironed out over the next few days.

-Meredith & Bill-Hello out there all you Hunters! Here is a quick update from Bill, Meredith, and kids. First of all, I am thankful everyday, for my darling husband of 16 years (!) and my four precious children. Not to sound sappy or anything, but the older I get the more these simple blessings are what really matter. Anna is graduating 8th grade with many accolades and honors. She received 4 medals at the 8th grade award ceremony, including math, citizenship, music, and P.E. She was also chosen as honorary music director for choir which means she gets her name on a plaque that will be at display at the school and she conducted that choir for one song at the spring concert! She had an opportunity to take the high school Spanish 1 final and the high school Algebra final, which she passed, meaning she will not have to take those classes as a freshman, but can advance. OOps! I realize I was typing so fast and I am not even close to mentioning all the things parents love to brag about, but I will say she has been a very busy girl! Will is finishing up 7th grade this year academically strong. Such a different personality than Anna, but equally as accomplished. Right now he is in heaven because it is baseball season. He has played a great season and will likely be called to play All Stars for the 4th year now. He loves playing his trumpet, but wishes mom would buy him an electric guitar! Thomas is finishing up 5th grade! He plays on the same baseball team as Will and you can't imagine how proud of him we are! His 2 crowning accomplishments this year were earning his "Arrow of Light" scouting award and playing the role of "Mike Teavee" in the school production of Willy Wonka (oh, Anna had the role of Charlie’s mom, too). Thomas was an outstanding performer! Matthew also was in the show playing "Augustus Glupe". He stole the show with his pillowed stuffed "fat suit" and stuffing his face with candy while singing in some sort of European accent, "I vant more!' Matthew has had a great third grade year. He is also playing baseball, and his team is first place in the league. His coach told him today that he will probably be called to play on the 9-year-old All Stars! How exciting!

As you can tell, we are proud busy parents! We are thankful for our health. Our home, our opportunities, and living life with the knowledge of the gospel! Can't wait to see you in June, where I promise to do more listening than talking!!

-Jenna & Kevin- I’ve been gearing myself up for the “2-week adjustment period” when school’s out and everyone is home together all day. I’m happy to report that it has gone way more smoothly than expected! The boys have been a fantastic help and we have ALL really enjoyed summer thus far! We have named each day of the week to help. Mon-Museum day, Tue-Teaching day, Wed-Water day, Thurs-Friend day, Fri-Movie day, and Sat-Family day. Kaden’s (11) baseball team took 1^st place and he got a huge trophy…VERY exciting!!! Hunter (10) is going to a 3-day Cub Scout day camp this week. Gavin (7) will be getting baptized in July! Holy Cow time flies!!! Kellan (4) just finished his soccer season. He was so much fun to watch! Last week he took the clippers to his hair, so I had to finish the job. When we went swimming the next day, he informed me, “I can’t go swimming because I’m bald.” Chloe’s (9 mo.) new trick is to push herself up to a standing position, throw her hands in the air and fall down. She’s VERY proud of herself that she can stand! Life is good. We are so sad to be unable to go to the reunion. I hope you all have a great time and have lots to write about in the next herald!

-Spencer & Shanille-This last little while has been pretty fun.
I have started working for dad, I manage a company of his
called pioneer Plus. I take care of all the products in the
company that are not books. On a side note if anyone has
high quality temple pictures they are willing to send me please
do. I can fill you in with the details later.

I went on a bear hunt in Montana we took 4 guys and 5 horses.
It was a great trip, it was definitely one of those vacations you
need a vacation to recover from. Unfortunately no bear though.
Shanille has recently been trained in the art of artificial eyelash
extensions she is doing very well and works hard to get better.

Wendi and Aaron are  back in town. Aaron and I have been
concentrating our efforts on training hunting dogs. And raising
the birds to train them with. I have been training Tanners old
Irish Setter ³Kili² so Tanner should have a whole new dog by
the time he gets back. If I don¹t kill her first. She is older and
pretty set in her ways. If anything all this training is training
me. Our wives say, ³if we paid as much attention to our kids
as we do to these dogs our kids would be reading by 2².
Probably true.

Quenton made it through the first grade. He just finished up
an 8-month wrestling season. He ended up with 4th and 5th
places in state in two different styles. It was his first full
season working out with “the big kids” it was tough for him
being the youngest, and being expected to keep up with a
very high level of training. The club he is in is the best in the
state. He did very well. I am proud of “my boy.” He is starting
baseball this week.

Sage our oldest daughter (5) broke her arm last Saturday.
She was climbing around on the balcony, when one of the
banisters broke loose and down she went. She was very
tough. “Tougher than nails” is what I always say. She
really lived up to it this go round.(no tears) She says its
her lucky day. Because of all the attention and treats she
got, not because she didn't get hurt a lot worse from a 10
foot fall. She is signed up for kickball. Shanille and I are
the coaches. She is also doing a cheer clinic.

We have two cannibalistic rabbits. By the fourth eaten litter
I couldn¹t take it any more I took the two surviving babies,
(out of seven) into the house one was pretty well done for,
and did end up dying. The other came out of the initial
onslaught virtually untouched. That little guy I have been
keeping warm under a light and bottle feeding every couple
of hours. Which really not like me. I must be going soft in
my old age. It’s kinda embarrassing.

Our two little ones Emeri, and Talmage are both walking
now and both in diapers. Both compete for mom’s attention
constantly. It is a full time job to keep up with those two.

Well sorry so long winded. I haven¹t wrote for a while.
Gotta cram it all in. We love you all. We are very sad we
probably won¹t make it to the reunion, unless I can do
some serious convincing in less than a week.

-Adam & Moana-May was filled with tons of fun. We changed 50 diapers a week. Tried to watch a movie, in the movie theater, with the twins. Like I said, tried. We got a jogging stroller and Adam runs with the boys in the mornings. Moana gets to catch up on her sleep during that time. The highlight of our summer is putting the boys in the baby contest! We love you all and hope you have a great summer too.

Jessica and I are doing great! We’re working hard to save
all the pennies we can find for a house. (Cardboard box with
a couple holes for windows) Hopefully we can keep
scraping and get by.

I’m in school. I started 3 weeks ago and I’m already past
mid-term. This schedule is killing me. I’m working full-time,
in Young men’s, trying to get my pilot’s license, taking
math and English, starting my own business, and running
a website. I know everyone else’s lives are about the same.

-GREG & LISA- Hi everyone! Well the month of May was very busy for my parents. It flew by, but it was a very fun month. My Mom has been busy with her business. She has 3 weddings scheduled in the month of June so that will definitely keep her busy. My Dad is done working with aqua and is now back to his same old line of work. My Mom was recently put in as young women’s mia-maids leader. She loves it. She is also going to girls camp as the destiny teacher on June 16 right after the reunion.

SUTTON AND CLAIRA- School almost OUT. Sutton and Claira are so excited! Sutton is excited about going to scout camp. He’s going to be a Leader. Claira is going to girl’s camp this year as a 1^st year! She can’t be more thrilled!

-Beau & Shannon- Beau is working hard on his finals from his first year at OSU. His birthday is on June 15 (Also fathers day, so we all need to sing to him or something at the reunion!:) He’ll love it!) He’s turning 26! Shannon is still working hard cutting hair to support their family. They are both currently serving in the nursery and are having so much fun playing with all the precious kids. Also it was their 1-YEAR anniversary on May 14. Very exciting!

-Zachary & Kaylee-Zachary is still in the academy going in his 6th week. He is working so hard! He also just graduated from Chico state on May 24! Olive Pearl is now 14 months! She is getting so big! She’s running all over the place and her vocabulary is emerging. Kaylee is home and loves being a mom!

-Shae- Last Month was so fun! On the 17^th I turned 21! Whoot whoot! And my amazing roommates threw me a huge surprise birthday party! It was so fun! But life is so good. I am loving school! I’m so excited to see you all at the reunion! Can’t wait!

-NEIL & MIKE- Happy Tax day is over everyone!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to Cayle, we hope you're bringing your bride- to- be to the reunion so we can officially welcome her into this spectacular family!!!! Congratulations Ben for graduating from the "Y"!!! Jaimyn and Paul, we would sure like a few details on your recent trip to visit mom and dad!! Tom got ordained to the Priesthood last Sunday and did a fine job passing the Sacrament today. Jarom just passed a very difficult test on his ship where he had to be able to describe everyone's job on the ship and every article and item that is used to run it and how they work. It had 3 parts, first a written exam, then going to each department head and being quizzed by them and then going before a board of the elite officers for a 2 hour questioning nightmare. He should be leaving Iraq this week and arriving back on American soil around the 1st of June!!!! I will be one very happy mother on that day. We are now on the one-month count down for Paij and Haylee. They're both due around the 25th of May and how I will be in Mississippi and Utah at the same time is a mystery to me, but we’ll make it work! Our goat mama delivered twins about 3 weeks ago and those little pygmy goats are so fun to watch jump straight up in the air. Neil is having surgery AGAIN tomorrow morning. How fun for him! They're still trying to finish the job they started in Nov. when they did the Prostate cancer thing. Please pray that this plague will end. When you see him at the reunion you're not going to know if it's Neil or Layne. (Well Layne definitely looks younger) So here's the latest scoop on "Hunter's Happenin Hawaiian Holiday". There's going to be a "rocket boat" race as part of the Friday night Luau activities so all you guys start gearing up for that. There's not going to be many restrictions so just let your mind explore the possibilities. ...These are the meal assignments: Thursday night: simple meal...Neil. Friday breakfast: Sheila, Friday lunch: Layne, Friday dinner: Neil, Sat. breakfast: Calvin, Sat. lunch Greg and Chad (Lamont). If that's a problem for anyone please let me know right away so we can re- do the assignments. I will supply the plates, cups, silverware, and napkins, pots and pans, bowls and large utensils for all. I will also bring garbage bags and toilet paper for all. In addition to your meal assignment, we are asking you to bring a bag of marshmallows per family (that's like Hillary's and Meredith's etc.) and a snack to share. ex. Large bag of pretzels, container of licorice. It will be very helpful if you could get together with your family group and decide what you'll be serving and let me know so I can make sure we don't have the same thing twice. We will be serving taco soup Thursday night and Kalua pork and rice Friday night. We will also have plenty of peanut butter and jelly and bread for those who need it so you all don't have to bring that just in case. Frankie will you please bring your large roaster and Lyle will you please bring your large grill? Thank you in advance for hauling those big items up there. We're less then 2 months away and counting so we hope you’re gathering flashlights and batteries and bug spray. I would really like to be getting a number from each of the siblings soon on approximately how many are coming from each family so I can let you know how many to prepare your meal for. -Trevor & Charmayne-Well, after our much anticipated visit with the cardiologist we now have info. He said that technically the blood test says yes, Trevor had a heart attack. But actually, he did not since the blockage was fixed before there was any heart damage. He said in a few more months it will be like it never happened. However, he is now on the radar and will be closely monitored the rest of his life. So he is feeling much better now, and is doing all his normal activities. On that note, Nick was taken to the doctor for headaches and had several blood tests done. His cholesterol was 252. So we are all making some changes in our lifestyles. My numbers are perfect, so it's just all you Hunters!!!

We recently acquired a paddleboat from the side of the road. Trevor and the boys made some repairs and we took it out to the river. Very much fun but quite a big deal to the legs. Just what the doctor ordered so hopefully soon we will be back at it.

-Paij & Brent- Well with a month left till she is expected to be here I have completed the crib. For those of you that haven't heard yet we decided to make the crib from scratch. Well 4 months later, and with a significantly lower GPA, the crib is complete and ready for our little girl. It is made from red oak with an espresso stain. Amazingly I finished the project without loss of limbs, blood, or appendages. The only thing lost was my patience at times and about 4,876 hours. We are excited and wanted to share the results with each of you. Paij is doing well. Attached is a picture of her taken only a few minutes ago. We both finish up our semesters this next week. Paij will have 6 weeks off before she starts up again this summer. She is excited to have sometime to take care of more baby preparations. The due date is May 25th. We will send you all photos of our little girl when she gets here. Hope all is well with each of you.

Hi all of you H. Boyd and Gene Hunter types;

I was in a meeting the other day and happened to glance at my hands and I thought how much they looked like my dad's. Have you ever watched Layne or Neil walk from the back? If you have you have seen Grandpa Boyd at his best. You know how Sheila likes to do for others? Her mother was just like that. Uncle Calvin is the storyteller that his uncle rube, (mom's brother) was. Uncle Greg has the soft-spoken attitude that dad always had. He never was ruffled no matter how bad things looked. Body build, a sense of humor, and abilities are some of the less important things we all have received a little of from Grandma and Grandpa Hunter.

Grandpa was baptized when he was 8 yr. old. He met Grandma some 18-19 years later at the Burley Fair. Grandma was not a member of the church then.

They were married a short time later in Elko, Nevada and then a few years later, sealed in the, I think Salt Lake Temple. Uncle Neil and I were not born under the covenant like the rest of the kids were. (We were born before mom and dad were sealed in the temple). We each have memories of that experience even though we were very young. I think I was two and Neil three. Neil was old enough to tell me I looked like a girl in the temple gown they gave me to wear. That probably doesn't tell how old Neil was though, he was doing such things at about 18 months, (a trait from the Cooper side of the family, Grandpa Wes was a great joker). The point is that even with all of the hand-me-down traits, both good and bad, the one thing that I, and I think we, can always be grateful to Grandma and Grandpa Hunter for is that they followed their convictions and were baptized, in Grandma's case and sealed in the temple. Without that it would not have mattered what traits they handed down to us it simply would not have been enough. With that example of being baptized and sealed in the temple, they have set the bar high. They always had great attitudes about temple marriage and gospel standards that should always be kept. They went to their graves as full tithe payers. These are the things that you and I can do ourselves and pass on to our families, that will be the greatest legacy or gift that can be given. We have all received it. What do you do to be able to pass it on? Live the gospel. Keep the commandments, not for a day or a week or a month, but from now until the day you die.

Your kids may have a short second toe on the left foot just like yours or a quickness to out run a sheep, as some of our relatives had, and all of that is good. Passing on gospel traditions is best.

-Justin & Jana-We hope everyone is rebounding from the health issues, and congrats to those getting married and all that.

This is the Reno Hunters. We are not frequent contributors to this newsletter, but we are AVID readers.

Our family is doing great. We have 5 kids: Kaethe 11, Harrison 10, Noah 8, Jackson 51/2, and Tennyson 2. I am 36 and Jana is (ouch!!) I was just rudely stopped. We are all healthy and happy. Our big thing right now is that we just sold our house and are renting while we get going on building another one. A little hectic, but overall we are very excited and enjoy the experience. Jana is Primary President, I teach 16-17 yr old and Asst. Cub Master. The kids really like to play whatever and (hurray!) no one is on any teams right now or participating in anything else but the regular Church stuff. We actually do encourage the "other things", but it is nice to have a couple of evenings free each week. We are excited about the reunion and look forward to seeing everyone. For those of you traveling through Reno, feel free to stop over, we can worm you in between the unpacked boxes!

-Seth and Rayanna-School is nearing an end and the Kids are getting restless. Jessica, the 3 year old has bowed legs that most cowboys would be jealous of. She was measured and will be fitted with leg strengtheners that over a year should help he get back to normal. My only hope is that these braces slow her down. She has found a way to climb our 6-foot fence and likes to go to the neighbors. Once we found her stuck at the top, hanging by her shirt that had gotten hooked on a wire. She was bothered that she couldn't go play, and as soon as we let her down, and she thought we weren't looking, she went to climb it again.

Samuel has been in track and runs the 3000 and 1500-meter races. He easily places first in the 3000 with a time of 11:52, and is usually first in the 1500 with a time of 5:43. Pretty fast for any age. Wesley is on the school softball team and is known for running hard to first base. All other kids are restless and the parents are enjoying their new life in California.

-Brandon & Laura-Brandon, Laura, and kids are doing well. We love living here in Tooele County. Brandon still works at L-3 Communications in Salt Lake near the airport. Brandon recently changed positions at L-3 so he is learning the ropes of his new job.

Jarom and Dalin are both in soccer on the same team (very convenient). Jarom joined the chess club at school. Jarom is a bear cub scout and Dalin is a wolf. Laura and Brandon are the WEBELOS leaders. Each Wednesday our boys leave for scouts and the WEBELOS show up. Kylene is still taking piano lessons and goes to Achievement Days (or is it Activity Days?). Brooke just goes around being cute. She still gives her dad the best reception after work by her unfeigned excitement. After seeing this behavior some of the older kids started pretending to be excited. At least they tried.

Our family went to Disneyland for a day followed by a week of visiting in Bakersfield, Fowler, and Castro Valley. We had a lot of fun.

We finally broke down and got a new trampoline. We had one last year that blew away (4 houses down the street) about a minute after Laura got our 2 year old off of it. This trampoline will be attached to chains with buried cement on the ends. I guess those nice protective enclosures act as sails when the wind kicks up.

-Rebekah and Seth-Summer is coming!

Peyton is loving Guitar.  He just recently was able to
meet the band RED they opened for Three Doors Down
here in Bakersfield.  He was very excited to hear them
 play acoustic guitar.  They usually use electric and he
does not have an electric one yet. The band was great
he got a signed picture from them, a guitar pick,
a picture with them, and a chance to talk.  He was a
bit shy but did okay. They said that he was petty cool.
He also emailed them after and they already wrote back.
 Peyton is also pretty excited about the awards
ceremonies they have for the 4th graders this year. 
He will be getting his 1st real trophy.  He has had 4.0
all year and this means a special dinner and a trophy
for him.  At least this is what Gregory got last year.
I know the dinner and awards ceremony is still on and
just hope that the award is a trophy and not a plaque.
Peyton really would like the trophy.

Gregory participated in his 1st track meet.  It was the 
Bakersfield Junior Olympics he got 5th in the 200, 8th
in the 80 hurdles and 2nd in the 4x100 relay.  Not bad
considering each event had multiple heats.  Gregory
is also hoping to go the summer school this year.  He
plays the Piano and is 1st chair for trombone. He
would like to learn a new instrument too.  He is hoping
to learn the clarinet this summer and transfer that
knowledge to saxophone and other similar keyed
instruments.  I just don't know that I want him to spend
so much time at school.  The band teacher told me that
he can attend the advanced band for trombone or
beginning band to learn the new instrument.  I still
need to think about it.  I guess I am fighting the fact that
he is growing up and learning new things.

Elliana is doing well in school and is looking forward
to getting letter grades next year.  She has a hard time
comparing her E's to the A's the boys get.  She thinks
that hey are doing better than her.  She is also
learning piano and wants to learn new things.  Her
favorite thing is to make cookies or cards and give
them to people.  I think she just loves to make
people smile.

-Caleb & Ashley-Hi All,

Well, we are busy at this Hunter household.  My wife
is scheduled for her C-section on the 30th of April
for our forth baby.  We are excited.  Two days later
is my graduation to receive my MBA degree.  All are
invited to come if you like long, boring graduation
ceremonies at 4:15 at the Huntsman Center.  I wasn't
planning on walking, but my wife finally got her way
 and got my to buy my cap and gown.  Then she
schedules her C-Section a week and a half before the
baby is due so that she won't have to go and
watch!  Oh well.  Life goes on.  We are just glad to
have both schooling and this pregnancy done at the
same time.  We love you all and hope to see you soon.

I can't believe there is just one more month of school. We are looking forward to summer. Camping swimming and so much more. I hope my garden survives. Between late season snowing and Adams truck I don't know if it is going to make it.
We are looking forward to visiting for reunion.
We are also excited about the dedication of the Twin Falls temple. The open house is most of the month of July and the dedication is in August. If anyone want to come to the open house you are welcome to stay with us. It will be so nice to have the temple just a few miles away.
Joseph is turning 8 at the end of June. So another baptism. He is really looking forward to this.
Mike is still teaching primary. Joseph enjoys having Mike as his teacher. I am still in cub scouts. Daniel leaves me this month and Joseph will start in a few weeks.
McKayla is looking forward to 1st grade. She really has come along with reading this year. Now just to keep up on it for the summer.
Over spring break we headed to California. There was snow on the pass between California and Nevada so the road was closed unless you had chains. It was so nice to be able to call Justin up and have him give us directions to find chains. I was just thinking about how nice it is to have family around. Especially in times of need. Thanks.

Ryan and Sarah McMullin: This month has been school crazy here in Houston. We both have finals starting this week and are spending many late nights cramming and wishing we had been more dedicated during the semester. (If I haven't whined before, law school finals are the worst torture on earth. I'd rather be water-boarded.) In two weeks, though, it will all be over and vacation will finally be here. We
plan on taking a road trip up to Nauvoo to celebrate finals being over with, so we'll send pictures in the next bulletin. I wish we had more fun news to share, but that will just have to wait till the end of the
semester. Hope everyone else is preparing for summer and enjoying the fantastic spring weather.

How is everyone? We had a great week with Greg and Lisa. It was also nice to see Sutton, Shae, Clara, Zach, Kaylee and beautiful Olive. We hope everyone is well and happy. Neil, get feeling better. We pray for you and yours. Lyle is watching the Jazz and Huston playoffs. Go Jazz!! Leisha went to Prom tonight. Can you believe it? She is also playing beauty in "Beauty and the Prince". She's doing a good job and ya she turned 16 on the 10th and had a sweet sixteen ball. Fifty kids came. It was fun. Frankie is in town for Ben’s graduation. Thanks for the birthday calls. You put me to shame. We are looking forward to reunion. I think all of our family is planning on coming. So.... everyone come. Mike will do a great job. Wendi and Aaron are moving back to Utah next month for a year. Aaron will be an official Dr. in May. We love and miss you all. Lyle's brother and his wife just got off their mission to Singapore. We look forward to seeing Mont and Evy again. Tanner is still loving Peru and will return home in December or January. Cayle, congratulations on your engagement. Your proposal was awesome.

I tried out for King and I, but haven’t heard anything yet. I assume that means I didn’t get the part. Leisha’s play starts tonight. Mom is going crazy because her back spasmed and she’s supposed to do all this work.

Business is a little slow. I suppose that’s the same everywhere. I think we’re finally realizing we were supposed to be saving a little. We did buy a ton of wheat. That makes us all feel better.

Nice to get Mont and Eve’s letters. Sorry to hear about Trevor. I guess we’re all mortal. It was especially nice to have Greg and Lisa for a week while he rehabilitated.

-Jenna & Kevin- Mom is coming to visit for my birthday! I’m totally excited and am counting the days until she gets here. She will be home for mother's day, so Tanner can call her! I feel like every month we are just the same...oh yeah...Kaden got 2 really good hits at his last baseball game. They are undefeated and played the only other undefeated team and we won!!!! Yay Kaden! I had stake cub scout day camp on Saturday that went REALLY well! Then on Sunday we had stake leadership training that was fantastic! Next Sunday the ward conferences begin, so the next couple months will be very busy! Chloe has 6 teeth, and is crawling all over the place and pulling herself up to the couches. She is already 8 months! Kellan can read words with "ice" in them, like mice, dice, slice, etc. Gavin is just cute and dying for soccer to start. Hunter loved day camp! He has been such a gentleman. Every Sunday he waits for the Music leader to finish, so he can carry her things to her car. Kevin is trying to do some marketing for work. The building market has really slowed down, so a lot of our neighbors are struggling to make ends meet. I am just busy with kids and church. At leadership training the stake primary president challenged us to pray for the spirit to be with us for 5 days. Then during those days whenever a problem arises, imagine the Holy Ghost literally standing next to you and write about it in your journal. I'm going to try it this week.

I guess I better write since we hardly ever do, and this
makes Jenna sad! So, a quick rundown of the family.
Quenton took 4th place in state for freestyle wrestling
 and 6th place in Greco. He did really well and we are
proud of him. Sage has discovered lots of fun games on
 the computer and is really good at them. She hops
onto the Internet and gets them going all by herself.
I just have to show her once and she can do most
anything. She has an amazing memory. Emeri is a wild and
 crazy 2 year old. I cannot keep up with her.
She is so busy and excited about life. Trying to master
the potty very slowly, but trying. I can't go
anywhere with her and Talmage cause I have to hold him
and she is running wild trough stores tearing
things of shelves. I often have people ask me "Are ALL
these kids yours?" Talmage is just starting to
take off walking. He has finally decided that it is
much better than crawling, and now walks everywhere.
He is so happy about his newfound freedom. Spencer is
 working at Cedar Fort. He is the new manager
of Pioneer products. He works on product development
like scripture cases, CTR rings, artwork, calendars,
and several other things. HE is really enjoying it.
It’s a great change from plumbing and construction. I
am starting to do eyelash extensions. I have been
trained and certified. Now I am just looking for some
guinea pigs to practice on. So that’s all the excitement
 on our world for now. We are Happy and Healthy
and love each other lots, and all of you too. We are
excited about the reunion but not about sleeping in
tents with all the little ones. I don't think anyone
will be getting much sleep. We can't wait to see you all

-Adam & Moana-Hi Everyone! We are enjoying the lovely spring weather...with the occasional snowstorms followed by 75 degrees a day later! Crazy Utah Weather! Kenneth and Chandler get their exercise crawling up and down, up and down the stairs all day. They will turn 1-year-old next month.... at the Hunter Reunion! I'm sure you all remember Lyle and Sheila getting to the reunion last year and then driving right back! We are so grateful for everything. We have such wonderful family. We can't wait to see you all in June!

-Bryce & Jessica- Jessica and I have been working and
playing hard. We’ve been biking morning or night
(depending on our schedules.) Jessica has been working
 and singing with her band. She’s going to be singing
at the Annual Art Ball in Springville.  We’ve enjoyed
being in the musical “Power in His Touch” I’ve been
working on company names.It’s hard because half of
the URLs are NOT available. Which makes life miserable
and finding business names miserable.

On April 1, I got Lasik. (No that’s not an April Fools)
 I love being able to see. It feels like a miracle.
(Considering I couldn’t see the BIG “E” on the eye
exam tests for years.

I’m going to UVU this summer. Working on a business major.

Most importantly, Jessica and I are loving life.

I’ve always secretly wished my last name was Hunter. Just cuz it’s cool. There’s a zone here in my mission called hunter. So yeah... the Hunters rock. My mission president gave me permission to start guitar classes for my ward and investigators. So that should be interesting

We worked really hard this week. We worked so hard that my comp made it a point to share the scripture and it wise that a man not run faster that he has strength... lazy little (/&$&%· ha ha ha...
So I always have really cool experiences during the week but by the time I read all your letters and sit down to write I forget what I had in mind. And I don’t have much time to remember.
This week my comp and I prayed during our nightly planning where we should go contact the next day. We both chose three streets separately when we compared what we had chosen we had one street that was the same so we decided to contact there. The next day right when we got there a lady yelled ELDERES!! We went over to her and she said that the missionaries had come to her house before that she wanted us to teach a guy that lived in her house and her husband. It was awesome the guy’s name is Miguel and I think he will be baptized.
Also pres gave ME special permission to start guitar lessons for investigators and members. It’s cuz I am so good at guitar. he he he...
well I am sorry that my letter is short today but that’s life...

-GREG & LISA- Hello! Well as you all know this is our first time sending our life news to you all and it is so fun! Our goal is to get our news in EVERY MONTH!! We’ll see... Well Greg is doing to well. Work is keeping him busy and so are all of my tedious projects that need Greg’s expertise! He is currently putting on aqua for some of the local farmers. He loves doing what he's doing and he is doing what he can to stay healthy. I am staying busy myself with my new flower business, Lisa's Flor Decor, and in a couple weeks our high school modern dance production well be performing, which I am a director of. It is so fun working with high school dancers. It definitely brings LOT'S of drama for your mama, I’ll be happy when it's all over, but in the long run it's something I definitely enjoy!

Sutton & Claira- Sutton is in his sophomore year and is
involved in so much. He is in the band and plays the
trumpet. Next week the band is going to Disney Land to
 play in a parade there. He is so excited. We are all
going along with them. Greg and I, Claira, Kaylee and
Olive. It will be a fun trip! Sutton is also in the
Dance Production and on the Tennis team.

Claira is in the seventh grade and is on the track
team running the hurdles. She is actually really good;
it’s fun to watch her! She is such an athletic girl!

-Beau & Shannon- Beau is in his second year of Dental School at Ohio State and loves it so much. Just last weekend he entered and WON the Ohio State Dental Idol!!! He won $1000! He was so happy about that! Shannon is working hard doing hair full time! She loves it! They both are still getting used to the cold weather of Ohio, but they are very happy to be there!

-Zachary & Kaylee- Hi Everyone! This month has been a busy for us. Zach is getting ready to graduate from Chico State in Criminal Justice and on Monday April 28 he is leaving us and entering the C.H.P. (California Highway Patrol) Academy. He will be there for six months and when that is over we will find out where he will be stationed. Very exciting! Olive just turned 13 months this month. She is getting so big. She is running all over the place and loves to play dress up with aunt Claira and Gi Gi Hunter.

-Shae- Shae- Hi familia! Well…. I’m getting MARRIED!!!! Haha just kidding. J I’m actually not even close, but life is so much fun and all I could ask for. I’m still attending BYU-Idaho and in my junior year. I’m a dance major and loving every second of it. I have been on the dance team here for the last two semesters and it has been the best experience of my life. Next year I’m hoping to be on the traveling dance team where I’ll tour Germany!!!! So fun! Well most of you know Rexburg pretty well and yesterday it snowed! I’m the middle if April! Not okay!! I miss California! I was just home about two weeks ago in beautiful 80-degree weather! Love it! While I was home I was able to help my mom with the Modern Dance production and choreograph three numbers. It was really fun working with my mom and seeing my family. I love them and I love all of you! Till next month….

-NEIL & MIKE- ALOHA! The weather's getting warmer and the reunion is getting closer!!! The garage sales are starting too so now's the time to go looking for that tent or whatever… for our exciting Hawaiian Happening. Assignment: ON Sat. morning we are going to devote one hour to getting to know Grandma Gene and Grandpa Boyd so each sibling (as in Greg, Calvin etc.) will get 10 min. to share a special memory. Since Lamont will not be there, Chad we are asking you to step in and "be the man"! Please remember that Friday will be the main day filled with fun and adventure and you won't want to miss any of it!!!

Uncle Neil spent 9 days in the hospital this month, I guess it was diet time again, and boy did it work! He has lost 20 pounds. I'd like to say he's doing better but it's slow coming. Hillary we are glad that your little guy is doing better and hope he will be doing great very soon. We look forward to meeting little Max in person!!! Neil, Haylee, Brandie, Race and Kalli, all celebrated birthdays this month so the rest of us all gained weight eating all that birthday cake! We so look forward to hearing about all the rest of your exciting lives so don't be afraid to speak up!!! Love, aunt mike

-Trevor & Charmayne-Well, I thought I might as well get started so I don't miss another month!!!

Well, I guess I don't have to figure out a nice way of sharing the news since it was blasted over the airways last month. Trevor hasn't been able to see his new cardiologist yet so we really aren't sure what happened. When we know we'll let everyone else know. So far he has started to exercise more, lots of medications, and he is trying to change to nonfat milk and something about the butter. I'm not that covinced yet on the benefits of margerine over butter so we've decided to use less for now and see how it goes. Don't blast me with facts, I have heard them all.

Trevor's new job With the CA Dept. of Water Resources is going well. Even after this cardiac episode he still has one, so we're greatful for that.

January was our pinewood derby. Nick took 2nd place and we went forward to race in Chico. It was single eliminate so we weren't there that long. Our pack did get an award for all our advancements last year.

Speaking of scouts, at the reunion, if anyone has any special scout activities that need to be accomplished during our campout, let me know and I'll coordinate something. Our schedule is planned for but there is a little free time.

Race was ordained a deacon in March. Pretty exciting. He also received his Faith in God award. Nick just got back from the Marin Headlands. He had a great time with his class on this overnighter by the coast. They stopped and visited the mission is San Francisco. They also played by the beach. Kinny is doing well in school like his brothers. And seems to be enjoying reading finally. He just finished 3 Spiderwick Chronicles in less than a week. He wants to go to the library and get some more.

I'm not working outside the home anymore. Now I'm running HSW while Trevor is at work. We are approaching our 100th liner job (currently we are at 93 with 3 scheduled for April so far). All this while Trevor is working full time in Sacramento. He gets every other Friday off so this allows some extra work time. I'm still doing mostly vinyl so if you need anything let me know.

-Paij & Brent- Things are just clicking along here in Mississippi. Our grass is starting to turn green and our tulips are sprouting. Both exciting things for us in the spring. I'm continually getting bigger but I guess that's the point. Our daughter seems to be coming along great. 8 weeks left. Yeah! Brent and I both have about 5 weeks of school left in this semester before a break so that will be nice. My break will be slightly longer than his thank goodness. I have attached a 3D ultrasound picture from about 2 weeks ago so if it works great, if not, sorry. It's great to hear from everyone so keep sending news. Congrats to the Calvin clan on another upcoming wedding and keep us updated on little Max.

Hello from Latvia again,

Thought I would write that because the time is going so quickly that we won't be saying it much longer....

We have had an wonderful month ! Jamyn and Paul have come (and gone already) to visit for a week. It was great, we went to see a few of the places that we had on our "to do list-before we leave" castles, museums, Old Town, Hill of Crosses- it was very fun but as Paul will attest to- freezing cold!

Jacob (Molly and Aaron) and Noah(Justin and Jana) were baptized just last week in Manteca- both (they were born on the same day). Those baptisms of grandkids are really hard to miss!

We are still loving the people, Young people are our hearts, the missionaries-the best , the Church is the greatest and most important thing in their lives, and they show it in every way!

These next two months we will be travel-lots about 15 days in each month to visit classes and Seminary Graduation and assigning new teacher- LaMont loves it -and I like it a lot.

-Rachel & Rob- Hello, Our family is doing good. Dale (5 years old) was busy following Alex (10) over a six foot fence and fell. He broke his arm just above his wrist. The doctors set it and he now has a cast that his brothers and cousins have enjoyed signing. It is our first broken and bone and we hope none follow. Lots of family visited over spring break. It is nice living near my parents. As people visit them we also get visited.

-Rebekah and Seth-Easter is just wrapping up and other than new tubes in Elliana's ears nothing too exciting has been going on. Except that we have a dog, okay it looks more like a rat. After all, it is some sort of Chihuahua. That might not be a big deal to you but after years of allergies and all the excuses for not having one we got one. The children love her. It is very cute, the dog and the love they have for her.

We are also excited about the fourth quarter of school starting of course that is because summer is just around the corner. The children are doing well, as healthy as can be expected and working hard in their various endeavors.



-Caleb & Ashley-Hey Everyone, Just six more weeks until our
next baby is born.  We are excited.  Elijah is old enough
to be very excited and cute about the soon to be new
addition to our home.  Caleb has now finished his MBA
classes.  It is great to be able to come home each night
and play with my kids. We are now in the process of
looking for a new job that will appreciate an MBA either
now or in the future.  We wish we could make it to family
reunion, but it is too close to when our baby is born and
Ashley takes longer to recover from child birth than most,
having c-sections doesn't help, that we probably won't be
able to make it.  We miss you all and hope to see you soon.

-CALVIN & DONNA- Well our family hasn't sent news in a while for some reason...I wonder if we're all going to randomly contribute to this month's letter and there is going to be an abundance of Calvin and Donna updates? Who knows? My Mom and Dad are super-cool as always. My Dad is doing his umpiring and my Mom is helping paint sets for the musical "Les Miserables." No Hunters are actually on stage in this production which is rare..the first time in years. Sam will be playing French Horn in the pit and Alex is taking some college classes so she couldn't participate. Alex is also getting ready to head to Europe this summer! The choir will be touring Germany, Austria, and other surrounding countries. I [Emma] recently moved from working solely in the JcPenney Credit/Catalog department to working both there and the Optical department. I'm learning a lot about being a sales person, about medical insurance, and of course all things glasses! I've managed to sell a chunk of my family some nice glasses...they're all pretty similar. We sort of look like a parade of geeks, and it's awesome. Anyways, I'm really loving it over there!

-Cayle … and soon Katie! Welcome! - Hello everybody. I just wanted to let you all know that I just got engaged to the most beautiful woman on earth (besides all of you of course). Her name is Katie Christensen and she is amazing. I know I'm old and all that, and it took me forever to find the one, but it was WELL worth the wait. It looks like we will be getting married on July 26th or so, so keep your schedules open. I can't wait to see you all there.

- We had spring break last month and wish it
lasted longer!  We took a trip up to Austin to see the
capitol and got a puppy, Ralph.  We've been learning
the ins and outs of dog training and having a blast
with a new little family member.  Law school has been
keeping me busy and stressed, but I'm looking forward
to some time out of the classroom this summer.  For 6
weeks I'll be interning with the Houston Office of the
Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and
Customs Enforcement.  It's a fantastic opportunity, and
I'm really excited about it.  Houston has been BEAUTIFUL
this spring, and we're not looking forward to the summer
turning into steamy humidity.  Hope everyone had a lovely
Easter!

-Jenna & Kevin- Hi Family! We just got back from our Spring Break trip to Utah. We had a blast hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa Mortimer and all of the cousins that live there! We also got to hang out with Greg, Lisa, Shae, Sutton, Clara, Zach, Kaylee, and little Olive. It was hard to leave, but good to be home. Kaden is really enjoying being a part of our town’s little league baseball. Kevin and I were shocked at how competitive it is! The boys are all almost finished with their 3-year music theory class! -Wendi & Aaron- We are moving back to UTAH!!! Yea!
Aaron got accepted to LDS Hospital for a transitional
rotation. We will be there for a year then we will
be moving to Alabama where Aaron will be working at
the University of Alabama for three more years.
Aaron graduates on May 17, 2008 with his Medical
Doctorate. He is going into Anesthesiology. We are
very ready to get out of Minnesota! Although the
Mayo Clinic has provided an excellent education, it
is way too cold.

Anthony and Haden are growing so fast.
They are starting to interact together.
Anthony is very excited to go live by
Grandpa and Grandma Mortimer and all of his cousins.

-Adam & Moana- Hi Family! We had a wonderful month of March. The boys enjoyed their first Easter! We took them on their first Easter Egg Hunt at Thanksgiving Point, along with the thousands of other people! We all lined up on the grass and when they gave us the go to run and get the eggs, within a matter of seconds all the eggs were gone! Mom didn't even have time to get out the video camera! The boys experienced their first egg hunt with no eggs...this can't be! So of course being the first time mom, Moana marched over to the people who were in charge...it was like they knew she was coming, and they immediately handed over handfuls of eggs filled with candy! We all made out well and Adam has enough candy to last until Halloween. We loved seeing everybody over Easter weekend. We took so many cute pictures with all the babies in the family....Kenneth had his first kiss with cousin Olive! Love you all... A.M.K.C.

-NEIL & MIKE- Danger danger!!!!!! all Hunters should come with a warning label. You are born with dangerous genes. Exercise, eat right and still take Vytorin or you'll end up like your cousin Trevor. 39 and having a heart attack!!! It's true folks. Trevor started having pain in his upper back last Weds. while at work in Sacramento and was rushed to the ER. After an angiogram they discovered that one artery was totally blocked and another was 50%. They put in 2 stints to open it back up. This procedure requires putting like a garden hose up your leg so you have to be careful for a couple of weeks after. He came home Sat. with the pain much decreased. We all immediately started to beef up our exercise and look at our diet for the last week. Uncle Neil went into to the hospital Friday for a 4 hour procedure to remove fluid from 4 cysts that he had. After removing a lot of gunk they sent him home with two little pouches hanging out of his guts to collect the rest. Maybe this is too graphic disgressionary reading is advised, although Cypress (6) and Tayla (4) were quite facinated. Valentine's day went well!!! Soooo Aloha!!! The "Oriental Trade "magazine has a large selection of leis so if you want to go that route, great! The water place, ( can't call it a lake) will be stocked with trout so bring all your gear and bait and remember no fishing license is required because it is privately stocked and privately owned. We may have a fishing contest and we may have fish for the luau, wouldn't that be heart healthy. Please, Please plan to arrive BEFORE 10:00 am on FRIDAY because that's when the festivites will begin and you don't want to miss out. We plan to leave camp by 3:00pm Sat. I sincerely hope everyone's February has not been as exciting as ours! Love Aunt Mike

-Rachel & Rob- The Fransens are doing well.  We are still trying to sell
our house in Fresno.  We don't want to start building a new house until
that one is gone so we still live in our mobile home.  It isn't bad but with
Elizabeth scooting and walking in her walker we are feeling crowded. 
She gets into everything.  She pulls her self up to standing by the
couch and walks along it.  She loves to pull things off of shelves, out
 of cupboards and drawers.  Since Dale is five we have had a break
from a baby-proof house so we are feeling the adjustment a little. 

My Dad just had surgery on the 19th.  The surgery went fine.  The
doctor will be keeping an eye on things to make sure there are no more
problems.  Well I guess that's all for this month.  I hope you are all
doing good.

-Rebekah and Seth-Hello from Bakersfield.  The weather is lovely and
starting to warm up.  This last week we were in the high 60's low 70's. 
Too bad we go MUCH higher.  Oh well.  It is nice to feel a bit of spring.

 I wanted to let Beau know that Peyton very much enjoyed his
playing the guitar at family reunion so many years ago.  In fact he
enjoyed it so much that he has decided to take up the guitar too.  It
has only been a month of lessons but the practicing seems to make
him enjoy it more. 

Perhaps this year's reunion can inspire others to achieve or learn a
new talent too.

-Kara & Michael-The Nichols are keeping busy and doing great. Daniel won our pine wood derby contest so he will compete in the district pine wood derby in March. He is excited. The district pine wood derby is held at our Mall here in Twin Falls. It should be fun.
I am officially trained to be a cub scout leader now. I am glad to have those trainings over with. I had already done the training few years ago but that was in California and so I got to be trained again. Now I can be the best cub scout leader. hahaha
Mike is starting a MBA program at the beginning of March. I hope the classes go smoothly. He will be able to do some of his schoolwork during his spare time at work. I hope he has a lot of spare time during work but if not we will make due.
I think that is about all. We are planning to go to California over spring break. It will be nice to see green grass once again.

-Hillary & Jason- Holy Cow is right!! February is over? You've got to be kidding me! I haven't updated in a while so I suppose I should make the announcement of the arrival of Maxwell Jacob Rogerson on December 21, 2007! WE GOT OUR BOY! He's adorable. It's a little surreal to have another male in the house but wonderful and he's doted on constantly by his four mothers.
Jason finished his undergrad this month and gets a GLORIOUS two month break from school. Hillary has once again been hired by the Shasta High School music department to be the assistant director to their annual spring musical which is: LES MISERABLES the school edition. It's a huge undertaking but she feels up to the challenge. Hunter is thriving in school and has even begun tutoring her fellow students in reading and also gets to read books to the entire class. Ellie is anxiously counting down to her fifth birthday (which isn't until October) when she'll get to go to school! She is mom's BIG helper and really loves taking care of Max. She has more patience for his crying than mom and dad do sometimes! Reese is talking more and more and more AND MORE.... Does this shock anyone that my children enjoy talking as much as breathing? Hunter and Reese both have March birthdays and will be turning 6 and 2 respectively.
We've been battling the flu over and over and over again and feel like it might finally be on it's way OUT!
We hope everyone is well and we are looking forward to this fantabulous Hawaiian bash in June! Loves to all!

-Jenna & Kevin- Hi Family! Life is good at the Brooke home now that everyone is over the flu! J Valentine’s Day was of course wonderful! Kevin is always good to me. Kevin decorated my car with red, pink and white balloons, streamers and paper hearts and then he painted love notes on my windows. Very embarrassing, but I did feel loved. Chloe is scooting! Why does time fly so quickly? Hunter just had his 10^th birthday! We went to see Spiderwick with his friend. We went to Priesthood Preview with Kaden last night! I can’t believe how time flies.
